Republicans want vote on abortion bill
While they still can, House Republicans are looking at scheduling a vote next week on a fetal pain abortion bill in a parting shot at incoming majority Democrats and a last bid for loyalty from the GOP's base of social conservatives.

The measure is tentatively on House GOP leaders' list of bills to be considered in a lame-duck session before Democrats assume control of Congress. It has no chance of passing the Senate during the waning days of Republican control. But, with Democrats ascending to agenda-setting roles, passage isn't the point, said one conservative leader.

"Next year, the leadership of the House will be hardcore pro-abortion loyalists," said Douglas Johnson, legislative director of the National Right to Life Committee. "They will block votes on even modest pro-life measures like this one."

The vote would be the first on the measure, which was introduced in September and referred to a health subcommittee, where no action on it was taken. Johnson said his group wants a House vote to test support for the measure.

3. Women hating RepubliCONS will never stop pushing their extreme agenda.
I think the women who are part of this "movement" even loathe themselves and their daughters. These freaks must be stopped before they literally destroy the world. Thank the good Lord most Americans said ENOUGH last November.

4. Guess the faithful in Congress didn't keep up with research
that shows that the areas of the brain responsible for receiving and interpreting pain are undeveloped before the last months of gestation.

However, if it resulted in every woman who goes in for an abortion being given some IV morphine, I'm sure few outside the DEA would complain...

5. And they are demonstrating again why they were voted out
No focus on real issues. Not once during their time controlling the House did they even try to pass the 9/11 commission recommendations, instead they run around throwing red meat to the nutty fringe right.

6. Don't these fokkers EVER have anything better to do than prove what assholes they are?
Do they KNOW our troops are caught in the middle of a civil war in Iraq? Do they REALIZE that Katrina victims are still suffering, or CARE that the "many jobs" they've created in this country pay just this side of minimum wage which leaves a lot of unemployed skilled professional people the only option of selling life insurance during the day and flipping burgers at night to get by? (I met one yesterday!)

I won't even ask if they give a damn about the women they're attempting to oppress with their stupid "fetal pain" legislation, WHICH WON'T PASS ANYWAY.

The Repugs just don't give a damn about ANYTHING that normal Americans do.

7. Dems should just stay away and refuse to be drawn into the farce
There's nothing to be gained from staying and voting since the bill has no chance of getting through the Senate and any no vote would just provide fodder for some stupid negative ad in 2 years time.
