No Discussion of This YET?!?! Bush Agrees to Speedy Handover in Iraq!
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20061130/ap_on_re_mi_ea/bush

AMMAN, Jordan -
President Bush said Thursday the United States will speed a turnover of security responsibility to Iraqi forces but assured Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki that Washington is not looking for a "graceful exit" from a war well into its fourth violent year.

Under intensifying political pressure at home, the American and Iraqi leaders came together for a hastily arranged summit to explore how to stop escalating violence that is tearing
Iraq apart and eroding support for Bush's war strategy.

So, the question is, does speedy turnover mean speedy withdraw?

1. perhaps you need to quantify the time period
he didn't say immediately or give any kind of time table. that would be too democratic.

2. LOL.
Considering we've already had a half dozen or so "turnovers," what do you think it means?

3. No, speedy turnover does not mean withdrawal.
Remember the Bush Regime's way with words - "Clean Air Act," "Patriot Act," "No Child Left Behind Act," and so on.

If they say black, they mean white.

5. If you watched the presser last night
you'd know he got all pissy when asked the 'timetable' question - slammed it down. "We will not withdraw, we will stay until the job is completed" Emphaszed in different ways several times.

He said Maliki is frustrated that he doesn't have the 'power' to move troops and protect his 'people'. So we are going to give him the 'tools' he needs. (?)

There was no indicationduring that speach of an imminent drawdown or change in the situation at all - just more authority for Maliki - probably to give him authority to deal with Al Sadr.

7. Why get excited? I think we've all heard 'turn-over to Iraq in the next 6 months' before. And
another 500-600 US troops will have forfeited their lives by then.
