Illinois Gov keeping his word --Illinois Senate passes Minimum Wage
The Illinois Senate sent Gov. Blagojevich a bill that would increase the minimum wage to $7.50 and hour, one of the highest rates in the country.

1. IIRC, the Ill. house hasn't even introduced the bill
They plan to discuss it in the spring unless they get embarassed into acting.

SPRINGFIELD -- The Illinois Senate today sent Gov. Rod Blagojevich a bill that would increase the state's minimum wage to $7.50 an hour in July, one of the highest rates in the country.

Blagojevich is expected to sign the measure, which he and fellow Democrats championed during the campaign for the November general election. It was approved on a 40-17 Senate roll call.

The proposal, approved by the House a day earlier, would boost the state's current $6.50 minimum wage by $1 an hour. It also would include annual increases that would eventually bring the wage rate to $8.25 an hour by 2010.
