3. 9 of 9...
Edited on Thu Nov-30-06 07:16 PM by roamer65
but the number of amendments was a bit of a guess for me. The correct number just "felt right" for me, so I got lucky.

4. At a guess I'd say no...
But I'm notan American and I'm never going to be wanting to become a US citizen, so 5 out of 9 doesn't worry me too much...

23. But I want to become an Australian!
Do they have a citizenship test? I bet I wouldn't get even 5 out of 9 right, though.

30. We don't have citizenship tests here...
Edited on Thu Nov-30-06 09:44 PM by Violet_Crumble
There's been attempts to bring them in, but so far they've been unsuccessful. Anything that tests an immigrant's knowledge of English or 'values' seems too much like the White Australia Policy...

Simple. (Though some might stumble on the number of amendments to the Constitution.)

1. How do you spell 'A'. "Ummmmm, uhhhhh can yoo use it in uh sentinse?"

2. How do you spell 'I'

19. What stupid unimaginative, plodding 99-year old high school teacher
(please don't yell at me...I too taught school) wrote these questions? Remember that old guy you had in high school government class, that made you memorize numbers and dates about things that you can just look up? If we're going to have a citizenship test, let's ask things that truly matter...like "How does a bill become a law?". Or maybe "What is the first amendment and why does it matter?". If we're going to make them pass a test, at least make it a test that shows they understand how this country is supposed to work...not one that tests how well they memorize rote facts.

The one about who is known as the father of our country.

That's not even close to substantive.
