My God, how can we EVER be forgiven for allowing this?

We are all, each and every American, to blame for the death and the dying and the crippling and the maiming and the poisoning and the rape and the destruction, no matter HOW we voted.

We did NOT take to the streets in November of 2000, as the citizens of ANY other country would have, if their election had been as blatantly stolen as ours was.

No; we, the complacent, lazy, selfish, self-centered pigs that we are, just let it happen. All of us. Including me.

Go watch that video again, and tell me you don't feel personal guilt. I certainly do.

Some day, I'll figure out a way to atone for my sin against my country, my countrymen, and all the innocent Iraqis.

4. This country was castrated when Raygun came into power...
Seattle '99 was the closest we came to real democracy since the dawn of the American Corporate Age was ushered in by RayGun's attack on the working people of this country.

5. We did everything within our legal power.
I watched every second of the 2000 debacle. At the time, I thought it was democracy in progress. I was even proud. Boy was I wrong.

When the war resolution was about to happen, I contacted Feinstein and told her that if they passed it, we would be in the streets in protest. And we had to do that.

If we could have, Bush would have been yanked out of the white house by now.

What can one do against tear gas and armored vehicles?

And to be honest, the Contras and what happened in Chile, and Vietnam, and South Korea weren't exactly beneficent acts of kindness.

I now believe that the real problem that is the cause of all of this is the corporations.

It's time to reel them in. The environment and the people of the world are in jeopardy because of the free range these entities have.

7. Yes, but still...how are we going to reel in corporations if we can't even stop
a stolen election?

8. With All Due Respect, What A Crock. I Understand How You Feel And I Feel The Pain As Well.
But I'm not going to lose my grip on reality and suggest this is my or your fault. Such a notion is beyond ridiculous.

But I can sympathize and understand why you feel the way you do. What has happened and is happening has been nothing short of disgraceful.

9. It's disgraceful, and we did not do the ONE thing we could have done to prevent it.

True? Are we REALLY that powerless, as Americans?

11. We've Done Whatever We Can, And Continue To Do So.
I do tear up spontaneously sometimes thinking about it, as I'm sure many others do as well.

But I did not cause this and neither did you.

10. I'm not one....I demostrated before Bush declared war on Iraq
Edited on Thu Nov-30-06 10:03 PM by Stargazer99
A group of us in Tacoma Washington demostrated against calling for war days before Bush and supporters started it. Oh, yah, I was photographed along with the other demostrators. Helicopters flew over the demostration. Helicopters you know, the governments favorite vehicle. America should hang its head in shame at what has happened to this country that was no threat to the US. No wonder other nations want nuclear bombs..they are scared to death of the US after Iraq. And yes you Bush supporters need to clean up the mess you've made by supporting this administration. What is the expression to you former Bush supporters? "What took you so long (to finally figure it out)? Maybe you need to sharpen your critical thinking skills or start looking at the "protection" (that you sold your soul for)in our ports and chemical plants (almost non-existant)and start waking up and smelling the coffee. This administration had you by the balls by saying next they will be over here. I got news for you they are probably here already...just less of them with the new awareness. I hope the Republican party takes a beating for this stupid, I repeat stupid stunt.

17. I took to the streets
I got arrested, fired from my job, pretty much lost my goddamn mind. Lost everyfuckinthing.

So no, I don't personally feel guilty. 'Twas just my luck that ~80% of my countrymen had Stockholm Syndrome and I didn't. I tried to get through to them anyway.

It's perfectly natural to feel ashamed when one has gotten over Stockholm Syndrome, but all one can do is go through it. You're better now, and will figure out what to do soon enough.
