Warning: Fake Bank Emails - "ALL Your Passwords Belong To Us" Watch out!
Remember all those Foriegners begging for you to help them online so that you could split MILLIONS of bucks with them?

I've been noticing some faked bank emails, and this is a WARNING to those who may not think about it and RESET passwords or give out personal INFO (I know that all of US are smart enough to see through this, but in a 100,000 members there may be some that don't catch them)..

And some can LOOK Quite REAL, but THIS ONE Takes the Cake.

Must be from China I figure, the english and spelling is SO Slaughtered.

But I wonder, WHY can't we forward these things to the FBI or whoever to shut them down? This is Obviously FAKE, but some folks just might fall for it.

Is there anything anyone CAN do about these really?

Meanwhile my Bank Account has be "LUCKED" on me, (not to mention I have NO ACCOUNT THERE), see how many mistakes YOU can spot..

As close as "All Your Base Belong to US" as it gets I think :)

1. I got one of these awhile back
It was from a different bank though, but I knew it was scam right off, because I didn't even have an account with the bank and I had heard about phishing scams on the news.

4. I just can't believe the slaughtered spelling in this
I mean if you are going to SPAM people, at least make it LOOK real with proper Engrish..

Reminds me of Bush, if you're going to Bullshit me, at least FAKE ME OUT in some intelligent fashion, a reach around would be nice, or a kiss :)

Newt huh? Mr Free Speech himself :)

5. Your Online Banking As Been Lucked??? Gimme a break!!!
These Stupid Asswipes Have Been Fucked!!!

You CAN forward them to the Feebs, with the headers. http://www.ic3.gov/ accessed from http://www.fbi.gov/cyberinvest/escams.htm

It's also a good idea to contact the bank in question, too, I'd imagine!

7. I was wondering about the Phone numbers
But I also know that some 800 numbers, once you call them (another scam) will bounce you all over the world and give you a HUGE Bill.. may even be some porno involved, happened to my kid once.

Heard of 2500 dollar phone bills before!

Thanks for the links, will forward :)

8. I got a few of those a while back
Also from banks I don't have accounts at. But they were much better. The language was correct, and they looked real.

The FBI?  They're to busy watching anti-war protesters and monitoring DU.

I called them about some scam e-mails I got trying to buy a motorcycle I had for sale. They wanted to pay with bank checks, and they would cover the shipping also. I faxed copies of the e-mails, and thats the last I heard from them.

10. Hey, while many FBI agents are assholes, many aren't. Not all of them
are GOP shits, plenty are Democrats and independents, and just careerists who take pride in their work. I feel for those guys; they're trying to keep their heads down and their professionalism intact under trying circumstances.

Edited on Fri Dec-01-06 01:27 AM by symbolman
They'll investigate YOU instead, since you are more willing to work with them :)

I've called them before, they don't do SHIT. All I've ever talked to were lazy asses, guess they man the phones, get a low pay grade.. though I imagine as MaDem says, some are cool and Stuck with a Phoney pResident on top of it :)

12. If you're not sure about an e-mail alert
go to the link that they want you to click on and pass your mouse over it without clicking on it.

The actual URL that the link goes to will appear in the lower left hand corner of your browser. (This works for any hyperlink, by the way.)

13. has anyone gotten an email
Edited on Fri Dec-01-06 01:30 AM by judaspriestess
from comapanies wanting you to be an exchange manager? the company says they will pay you a percentage of money that is deposited into your account then you send it somewhere else. Anyone know anything about this?

on edit: they are typically European companies and they claim its a service to clients to route money this way cause taxes are super high in Europe

14. If it sounds too good to be true
then it probably is, is the rule of thumb as I understand it..

Except for that Time Machine, man, I'm NEVER LATE with my video returns now, but I shouldn't have killed my grandfath...

16. It's only allowed if we FALL for it
there's really not much protection these days.. hell, OSHA died when Reagan got in..

I was just glad that I wasn't FOOLED by this, though I don't normally deal online. I'd sooner CALL the bank or go over there and say, "Hey, something wrong?" to a teller :)

20. This is a definite scam. I get them all the time
The cashier's checks are fakes and you are liable for the full amount if you cash them.

17. I forward all spam to the companies whose domain names the spammers are using.
I phone their fraud people first, and in the forwarded email I also add a brief explanatory note saying something to the effect of, "Look at this spam I got from someone illegally using your domain name and violating your company's proprietary rights." Then I delete the email from my computer.

My reasoning is that these companies have much deeper pockets than I have, as well as access to high-powered legal barracudas who will go after the fraudsters. And besides, it's their property, not mine, so they can take care of it.

The companies are always grateful for this.

19. Anyone there?
A Recording? I know it's late here. Like I said, I was afraid to even dial that baby as there are phone scams involved in 800 numbers as well, and of course they could have put up the scam number and not even cared about the Bank Info being stolen, the phone scam might be the "nut" of their deal..

Thanks for calling - and I'll pass it along to maybe abuse@wachovia.com or whatever will work..

I heard from my wife that a lot of these things are nearly impossible to trace, they bounce it all over the place and you just can't track them down..

whichever carrier it came through (yahoo, earthlink, hotmail). And I forward all the fake ebay ones to ebay, the fake bank letterhead to the bank, etc.
