MPAA kills California anti-pretexting bill
after it passed the California senate 30-0. The bill makes lying to gain personal information about another person illegal. MPAA says they need to pose as other persons (lie) to stop illegal downloading. Maybe this should become Federal Law.

2. Oh, the MPAA is busy at the federal level, too, attacking home theater.

This really rubs me the wrong way; trying to charge me based on the quality of my furniture, even after I have paid for the DVD.

3. It's a hoax story.
Yes, it's not that far a stretch from reality, but it IS a hoax story.

The same source has another about the MPAA stopping piracy by making all movies suck. ...This, too, is not a far stretch from reality.

5. Nah, it's just too close to reality for comfort.
There's no suspension of disbelief required to buy it.
