Please critique my LTTE on Bush's new "bipartisanship"
It was good while it lasted. After Republicans got trounced in the recent election, President Bush promised to work with the newly Democratic congress in a fresh spirit of bipartisanship. His pledge lasted less than a week when he sent several controversial nominations back to the Senate. These were nominees that were deemed too radical by the Senate even when it was in Republican hands. But, I guess I could be wrong. This could be Bush’s version of bipartisanship, and Democratic Senators should feel lucky they have not seen Bush be partisan, or they could end up in Abu Graib, or some secret CIA prison. We should also give credit to the president for keeping a promise for six days this time, which is well over five days longer than he kept the promise to reduce our dependence on foreign oil.

1. Pretty good
I'd tone down the line on Abu Ghraib or find a way to express the idea more subtly - as it is it's a little blunt, and might be rejected as alarmist? It seems tangential to your main point anyway. But other than that quite good.

2. I would change Abu Graib to Guantanamo
as that seems to be the place for "enemy combatants".
