After the IWR vote, shouldn't Democrats re-evaluate their criteria...? |
|
For going to war? Although the vote was to give the President authority to go to war, no one thought he would acutally do it in the way he did. The Democrats that voted for that piece of crap miscalculated. That should never happen again.
What is wrong with saying we are the "Party of Peace"? Of course, we preface that with our unquestioned will to defend our nation if we are attacked or if our allies are attacked. However, never again will we be persuaded to go to war on such flimsy evidence as that presented by Bush and the neo-cons prior to the Iraq invasion. This has done great damage to our nation - not only at home but around the world.
We should be ready to defend our position if this situation should ever arise again. We will not vote to give any President unlimited powers to declare war or to unilaterally invade any country. This should be put in writing. We will defend our country from enemies, both foreign and domestic.

1. I agree.....most here could see the set-up on the IWR vote |
|
no question, the Democrats got steamrolled into signing on this. What Kerry ought to do (using him because of his Senate speech on what his vote meant), is to hold Bush accountable for not meeting the conditions of the IWR. The UN did not find evidence of WMD, therefore there was no basis for the invasion. Use the IWR as a basis to drive the investigation for impeachment.
