Poll question: Was Sylvestre Reyes a good choice for Intelligence Chair? |
He seems like a good compromise choice to me, but I don't know a lot about him.

2. The intel committees aren't favored assignments for pols who like the cameras. |
Intel committee business is usually conducted in a secure setting, without media coverage and all the "face time" that comes with more public hearings. Thus, politicians who're hungry for that C-SPAN exposure or, better, network coverage, don't usually seek the intel committee assignments. ON THE OTHER HAND, a politician seeking to collect a portfolio of secrets and dirt - or who seeks to build connections with the 'contractors' who do the deniable work - favors the position as an opportunity to engage in sewer politics. POTUS41 comes to mind.
