Six years ago if someone would have suggested that Iran or North Korea wanted nuclear weapons to protect themselves from America I would have been sizing up that person for a straight jacket.

I couldn't have even imagined that these countries would feel threatened enough by the good old USA that they would risk everything trying to gain a nuclear deterrent from us. Us? It just would not have computed in my brain six years ago.

I would have felt threatened by their attempts to possess a nuclear deterrent for no logical reason back then. I would have probably figured back then the only reason they would want nukes was to make trouble. I would have never imagined they would covet nukes to protect themselves from us.

We have come a long way, haven't we?
