So we keep hearing that we must get control so we can make changes
and we must support the candidates for Congress regardless of how DINO they are.
I am gonna call crap on this.
What good is it going to do to elect a bunch of centrist DLC--Bush loving Congresscritters just because they have a (D) behind their name?
Do you think they are going to support an agenda that we can all be happy with or just go behind our backs (see gang of 14) and be another rubber stamp for this administration and neutering our party from within?
I'm sorry--but putting any old person in office just because they have a (D) behind their name isn't good enough. They are no better than a Republican.
We have to do what it takes to get them out of office because having the majority with DINO's isn't any different than we have now.
They won't support any agenda that is put forth by Conyers or Kerry or Kennedy. They will have their own and it will be tied to corporations and money.

1. True To A Point. Fight To Get Them Out Only If Their Replacement
has a better chance to win against their republican opponent, period. Voting them out just so a repub could take the seat is just irresponsible and foolish. A Dino is still better than a repub, no matter how you spin it. Majority and the power that goes with it is not dependant on how democratic or republican that majority is. And is that majority control we need.

I'm all for getting the DINOS out, but only when that we seek to put in has a BETTER chance against the repub running against them. Doing it when they chances are far less is just selfish and foolish imho.

But I hope we have candidates that are not only progressive and strong, but also good enough to beat the repub contender. Best of both worlds.

2. Support the most Progressive candidates in your area.
And encourage moderate Dems to run as Cons.

3. It's easy to get frustrated
particularly after the last couple of weeks, but taking control of the congress, or even one part of it, would make an enormous difference. Think about this: If we took back the house, John Conyers would be Chairmen of the Judicuary. He could organize official, rather than shadow investigations. He'd have Supoena power. If we took over the Senate, Pat Leahy would again be Chairman of the Judiciary. Jay Rockefeller woluld be Chairman of Intelligence, and on an on. We could block not only judges but legislation. See the point of voting in dems now?
