The sheer breadth of Randi Rhodes' knowledge is amazing. |

But what's even more awesome, is that she can almost immediately pull up facts and figures on such a wide range of political topics.
Unlike Limbaugh, O'Reilly, et al, who just pull stuff out of their asses, everything Randi says can be looked up and verified.
She has done this for many years down here in Palm Beach County long before she joined Air America. We need dozens more voices like hers on radio and TV. Were this to come about, there would be just a handful of "red states" and, IMO, far fewer right wing morons.

1. Facts don't win arguments - emotions do |

Seriously. Have you ever tried to discuss/debate an issue with a RWer? In many cases it is nearly impossible to keep the discussion from degenerating into a shouting match.
They argue from the "gut" and we argue from the head. They don't like facts because, as Stephen Colbert has noted, "Facts have a liberal bias."
Edited to add: And Randi Rhodes is a goddess with a brain I'd like to sleep with.

2. Actually- it takes ethos, pathos and logos |

All the far right has (or has ever had) is pathos. This is why they will ALWAYS lose in a fair debate.
It's also why the corporate media goes FAR out of its way to ensure a free and fair debate never happens.

5. I believe you are right about the media |

I am amazed at what passes for "debate" these days.

4. Is that why she doesn't let her callers speak? |
|
Because she knows everything anyway, so there's no point to having anyone else say anything?

7. I find that aspect of her show really annoying, too |
|
...and that's exactly why I surf away when she starts taking calls. The few times I have listened to her take calls, it seems like she never lets callers get a word in edgewise even if she agrees with them.

6. Well, part of that is called "having a great research staff." |
|
Yes, she rocks, but she's got researchers doing lots and lots of work for her--and they get a good share of the credit.
