2 US soldiers accused of sexual assault of a child

Two soldiers have been indicted on separate sexual assault charges after being accused of having sex with a San Angelo girl they met on the social networking Web site MySpace.com.

Ephrem Christopher Jones, 18, a Fort Hood soldier now in Iraq, told investigators he met the 14-year-old girl twice, according to a report that appeared in Saturday editions of the San Angelo Standard-Times.

Jones told police he had sex with the girl in a car during June and engaged in a sex act with her at a motel during August. Floyd Karl Parker, 33, a drill sergeant at Fort Sill, Okla., is accused of having sex with the same girl at the same hotel in September.

Jones told authorities the girl said she was 20 years old, but later said she was 16. Under state law, people younger than 17 are not capable of consenting to sex with an adult.

I just love how blind support of an idea has just washed across the US like a tsunami.

YES, I support those there, those injured who suffer here, and those in the VA that get my pocketbooks. But it is not and cannot be blind support. Because there are some really bad things that some of our troops have done. and for that, we have war crime tribunals.

people need to start IDing their prospective sex partners. No ID, no sex.

Either that or start chasing OLDER women rather than younger ones.

but I don't buy for one second that a 14 year old girl is more sexually experienced than an 18 year old man in the military.

Sure, she probably misrepresented herself, but in the end, the responsibility will lie with the adults involved. That's how the law works.

I'm hoping that justice does prevail and none of these people involved are made an example and given harsher punishments than they deserve. Maybe it won't far at all since she lied about her age. :shrug:

on edit: No matter the age difference it's still illegal to have sex with a minor.

I am surely not saying that would be typical but I have taught some quite sexually active 14 and 15 year olds.

Maybe these guys were so damn desperate to get laid they just said 'yeah, spread your legs, honey' and didn't care about anything else. It's happened.

Most teens I know have one or two forms of fake ID and good ones too.

I'm not sure I LIKE that, but it's a fact.

I honestly can't think of any other way for guys to avoid getting caught in this particular trap other than to think with their bigger head rather than their little one.

14. When I was 18 and a senior in high school...

....I had sex with a 16 year old. She was way more experienced than me and, as it turned out, trying to get pregnant. At 18, I didn't even think about her age and age of consent laws. Just dumb luck that the age of consent was 16 in that state.

Still, verifying age is the responsibility of the adult. Even if that adult is an adult be just a few days or weeks. Many states have different penalties for sex with minors when the ages are relatively close.
