Power is back on for now, but I am p*ssed about this
The SE side of Columbus is the poor area. Black and white alike.

In May, after the debacle two years ago where people out here were without power for a week, the electric company and Asplundh came out to my house (and several others) and marked trees to trim, so that this would not happen again.

It is Dec 1. They told me they would be out here in 4-6 weeks to cut the trees. They never came here. And now, with just high winds, we have 32,000 people in this area with no power. Mine was out, then on for 45 minutes, then out until a few minutes before I am posting this.

The rich white areas that were out in the big storm 2 years ago? Their trees were cut and they are fine.

We have a dem mayor, black guy, and yet nothing has changed. We get a snow storm, and our streets are the last to be plowed. A lot of wind like tonight, the 'good' areas of town are ok while the poor areas are out of power.

When I called AEP earlier they were talking about Sunday before all the people out here have power. We were lucky (though that may change, power was on 45 minutes earlier, then out again).

Dem Mayor, progressive city, and yet the poor folks here are always the last.

Pisses me off.

2. Time to petition the mayor's office
And get the local news on it as well. Any of them have a troubleshooter team?

3. It's infuriating isn't it?
We got hit with this storm yesterday and the day before. I was so thankful we didn't lose power.

If your power goes out again, come on over. :)

4. Do you have a City Council?
If you do, there should be a Council member who is supposed to represent your area. You and your neighbors maybe need to ride his or her ass -- complain and complain loudly, and make sure the local news media knows about it. Might help...

6. This kind of crap really helps contribute to the widely held
notion that all politicians are self serving crooks-some a little worse than others.

Really sucks, doesn't it?
