So, it's now been proved beyond a shadow of a doubt. The Moral Majority is neither the majority nor
moral.

I clearly remember the ascension of the Falwellians right along with the Reaganites in the 1980's. Falwell and his fundy buddies coined the phrase "The Moral Majority." That phrase became conventional wisdom almost overnight.

The implication, of course, was that those damn upstart hippies, now daring to raise children and promote understanding and acceptance, were not representative of the God fearing, church going, upstanding citizens of this great country.

That phrase catapulted the propaganda of a trumped up "fact". An assertion that most Americans were appalled at the goings on of those immoral folks who not only didn't want to oppress anyone based on their gender, ethnicity or religion, but who actually embraced and celebrated the rich diversity of our populace. How could this assertion be refuted? Who really knew?

Well, we sure know now. That concept has galloped along to its ugly conclusion. The Moral Majority, as with all other Orwellian factions that are members of the cabal, is, in fact, the Immoral Minority. Among our citizenry, the metric is barely 30% and,in reality, probably closer to 25%.

Oh, it's a marvel how the cabal has convinced that small group of Americans that their bigoted, ignorant, selfish world view is the dominant perspective of this country's people. The cabal, over and over, has routinely whipped the Immoral Minority into a frenzy, driven by fear and fed with reassurances of moral superiority. And, the RW pundits kept telling us that the sound and fury of the frenzied few represented the will of the people.

The numbers tell a far different story. And, it's been a wonder watching as the RW noise machine is reduced to mere bleatings.

Good-bye "Moral Majority" and take those "Compassionate Conservatives" with you. The Principled Populists have arrived, and we are 75% strong. Just like it always was.

2. Pat Robertson
In the 80's Pat Robertson was on his TV show, the 700 Club, instructing his followers to infiltrate the Republican party at the local level. I saw this on TV with my own eyes. It's true.

I knew some active Republicans in those days. I heard stories about how these weirdos were coming out of nowhere to influence and even dominate the party locally. Note: this was in Texas. (Surprise, surprise)

They were amazingly successful, weren't they?

Their day is done now. I think they have finally realized that those with real power have just been using them. Take a look at the last 6 years. With the Republicans in total control, the issues that were important to the radical right wing Christians (no offense to regular Christians) were not addressed, no changes were made.

They are not going to shrivel up and disappear but their political power is waning. And that is all it was ever really about. Political power. And there just are not enough votes for a theocracy.

3. Exactly. The RW fundies have used amplification to convince a lot of gulliable, powerless feeling
folks that their fondest wishes would come true, if they just believed in the rhetoric offered up the cabal, via Rove.

I'm very gratified to see their influence marginalized since the radical wing's wishlist included enslaving women, destroying gays and dictating public discourse. MKJ
