Why on earth did Arizona re-elect Jon Kyl? |
|
He's a robotic bushbot, and stupid to boot. Listening to him and Diane Feinstein on Late Edition is unbelievable. He keeps repeating the same old tired * rationalizations for "staying the course" blablabla. Feinstein on the other hand has come 180 degrees around from her pro-war stance. SHE keeps saying the American people made their will known this November. Clearly the last holdouts for the FAILED BUSH IRAQ POLICY, including Kyl, are still totally deluded. UNBELIEVABLE.

He's a Senator. Other conservative states, e.g. Montana, Colorado, Virginia, went with the Dem. Kyl had a difficult battle, but pulled it off. Arizona made a HUGE mistake, imho.

That is another senate seat I sure wish we could have had this November. Petersen put up a good fight, but I just don't know what's up with the good folks of Arizona who keep this doofus around.
The way he was trying to explain away the Rumsfeld memo was absurd. They were just "suggestions," not "recommendations." He clearly doesn't want to admit that Rumsfeld, while absolutely wrongheaded in his handling of this Iraq debacle, is an expert in playing the game in Washington and knew exactly what he was doing with that memo.
What blows my mind is that the US still believes it can actually influence what happens in Iraq. I just don't see it anymore.

My state is also very conservative, yet we went Dem this year. Sad you have to suffer such fools.

22. We got rid of JD Hayworth and defeated a gay marriage ban and |
|
approved an animal-cruelty prevention bill.
Can your state say the same (AZ was the only state to defeat anti-gay marraige propositions, btw)?

Hey, we just got rid of George Allen here in Virginia. And that was a close one. So, I am sympathetic.

13. McCain wasn't up for reelection this cycle. |
|
Pederson didn't take a tough enough stance on Iraq.By the time he made any statement at all, it was too late. He gave it a great shot and worked his butt off but unfortunately he wasn't perceived as "one of the people" , though he was only only one of the two to be a self made man. Kyl came across as "experienced" and while you didn't like his opinions, he had one. At the end of the day AZ went with the devil they knew.It was very sad. Other than the two house seats, Az did little pickup in the state leg and Senate and lost every statewide race except Attorny General and Governor. But since we have split our house delegation and retained the Governorship, we count ourselves as lucky. We are just beginning a shift aznd have to be very careful from now on.We must maintain these gains and add to them. 2008 will be critical.

10. I'm from AZ and I'll tell you. There is a great deal of conservatism |
|
here. A lot of old school Goldwater Republicans here. Our Dem Governor, Janet Napolitano, won in a landslide. She's terrific and they know it. Pederson wasn't well known enough. He still ran one hell of a campaign. You have to give the snotty Scottsdale-ites credit for getting rid of J.D. Hayworth.
I despise Kyl more than most and agree with you all completely. I just want you to know that we're trying and at the very least moving forward... Keep supporting us and we'll paint this state as blue as the sky~someday...

I'm born and raised in Phoenix, so I feel like I'm entitled to rip on people from Scottsdale, Mesa, Maryville, and Apache Junction! It's what we do for fun. Y'know, besides hoarding water.
Excellent form on the Happy Happy Joy Joy dance btw...

23. I've always wondered why AZ is a red state. |
|
It just doesn't strike me as a Florida or a Texas; Arizona always seemed to be a progressive middle ground. I plan to possibly relocate there when I get older (because at that point, 55-60 years of Ohio winters will be quite enough, thank you), so what's the overall reason for the conservativeness of AZ?

18. How the hell do you know who AZ elected? |
|
There's not an election anywhere in the country that the American voter can have confidence in.
What machine counts the votes?
Do you have A REAL AUDIT? From what I've heard, the audit in AZ is an illusion.
