I support the concept of "off-shoring" to reduce wage expense.
That's right, it is a great concept. I suspect that an Indian or Mexican CEO could be had for a fraction of the cost we have to pay an American. As a matter of fact, the whole executive suite could probably be "outsourced" for what it costs to pay an American CEO. Other savings could be realized by moving entire corporate headquarters overseas. Should I write to the board of directors of corporations that have already accepted "off-shoring" jobs as business practice and see if they like my idea?

6. And it has to be where CEO labor is cheap! :)
That would mean that they wouldn't be moving to the Swiss alps, etc. :)

3. Don't you mean "off-shoring" EXECUTIVES to reduce wage expense.
I agree wholeheartedly. Offshore execs pay and benefits. With the money that saved, a corporation could afford to increase workers pay by oodles!!

5. I thought I made that part clear.
If they think off shoring a job that pays 50,000 a year is a great idea, how could pass up the chance to save 50,000,000 dollars a year on a CEO?

4. The big "con" of CEO compensation...
For some reason, when labor compensation is discussed, the terms are ALWAYS what it would cost to replace a given worker...

But AMAZINGLY, the terms are ALWAYS shifted when it comes to CEOs to "salary should reflect the 'value' they bring to the company..."

Harvard, Yale, etc churning out MBAs etc but for some reason CEOs are irreplaceable?

Also, while my rant is on, when the whole economy is going up, when a giant company like GE goes up with it (like, how could it NOT?) the CEO is treated like some "savant". Simliarly, CEOs who simply lay off people to raise short term profits (what a GENIUS!).

The MIRACLE, of course, is when the company goes DOWN in value and the CEO is given the golden parachute.

SO, HELL YES - offshore CEOs, LAWYERS and STOCK BROKERS!

7. Outsourcing the presidency
http://www.yatpundit.com/archives/2005/11/outsourcing_the.html

"We believe this is a wise move financially. The cost savings should be significant" stated Congressman Thomas Reynolds (R-WA). Reynolds, with the aid of the Government Accounting Office, has studied outsourcing of American jobs extensively. "We cannot expect to remain competitive on the world stage with the current level of cash outlay" Reynolds noted.

Mr. Bush was informed by email this morning of his termination.

Preparations for the job move have been underway for sometime. Gurvinder Singh of Indus Teleservices, Mumbai, India will be assuming the office of President as of December 1st.

Mr. Singh was born in the United States while his Indian parents were vacationing at Niagara Falls, thus making him eligible for the position. He will receive a salary of $320 (USD) a month but with no health coverage or other benefits.

It is believed that Mr. Singh will be able to handle his job responsibilities without a support staff. Due to the time difference between the US and India, he will be working primarily at night, when few offices of the US Government will be open. "Working nights will allow me to keep my day job at the American Express call center" stated Mr. Singh in an exclusive interview. "I am excited about this position. I always hoped I would be President."

<etc.>

9. All kidding aside
I think it is high time to reel in the outlandish compensation packages offered to CEO's and other high management positions! It seems this is one species of human that is immune from any reduction in salary and bonuses regardless of their performance. By paying such astronomical compensation, corporations are creating an elite class of wealthy plutcrats, who actually believe they are worth every cent they can extract from the company.
