Which I don't think is a word anyway... but "allusions" is surely not what you mean, and not a word either.

on edit: Guess I should answer and not be a grammarian: it depends on the degree to which the illusion is real. I believe that the truth is always the best medicine, so unrealistic expectations and flights of fancy are generally harmful. The value of an ideal is, paradoxically, proportional to its pragmatic application. Of course, there is the time frame variability to account for. Some mindsets may be relatively divorced from reality, in either the small or the big picture sense, and be somewhat advantageous in the short run. But I believe that stark realism is always the best in long run strategies, which are more important than instant gratification or ephemeral phenomena.
