6. Texas has some mitigating factors.

A large minority population, and a very unpopular, "in your face" republican majority in Austin yield a larger pool of people who will take out their frustration on a polling question. Not to say that 58% of people would ever vote democratic, but that's the number that voted against the governor last month.
