Doctors upset over VA's push to seize Veterans Research Funds
http://www.fresnobee.com/263/story/16734.html

THE VA WANTS GOVERNMENT TO CONTROL $1.3M IN RESEARCH MONEY??????????????

Local doctors say the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is trying to seize control of $1.3 million set aside for them in a education and research fund.

The San Joaquin Valley Health Consortium, a Fresno-based nonprofit that seeks to improve health care in the region, has for decades maintained a pot of money funded by private grants. Doctors who work for Fresno VA hospital have used the money to pay their medical research and guest-lecture traveling expenses.

Now the Department of Veterans Affairs says much of the money should be controlled by the Government---- even though most of the funds originally came from private donors.

YA RIGHT THEY WOULD BLOW THE MONEY. Right now the VA is underfunded by 435 million. Can you say power grab for money.

1. Interesting. Sec. of VA Jim Nicholson isn't mentioned in the entire piece
He should be finding a new hobby, like Donald Rumsfeld.

Last year Nicholson was feigning support for long term mental health care treatment for vets, legislation pushed by the democrats, with Nicholson hampering its passage.

Wo we know for sure Nicholson doesn't plan to spend this hijacked money on vets' mental health care. In fact, in 2005 he said the VA was adequately funded.

Which begs the question: What IS Nicholson going to use that money for?
