When is terrorism, not terrorism?
I guess when it's perpetrated by homegrown, rightwing nutbags and sociopathic teens.
Over the past year, four news stories have somehow seemed to have flown well below the radar of our ever vigilant, leftwing biased, liberal press. :sarcasm:
While the press has been fixated over Nancy Pelosi’s latest outfit and whether newly elected House Representative Keith Ellison is secretly supporting al-Qaeda because he wants to use the Koran instead of the Bible, there seems to have been little in the way of coverage involving the following events, three of which some might call acts of terrorism and one of which shows how easy it was for the Germans to blindly follow Hitler and allow over 6 million people to be killed.
The first of these involves two 15 year old boys. These boys were arrested late Saturday night and charged with setting off two homemade bombs inside a Wal-Mart that was filled with holiday shoppers.
At least eight people were treated for irritation to their eyes and throat or ringing in their ears.
The boys also made three other explosive devices and placed one of them on the roof of a business and two on the lawn at someone’s house. None of the three bombs exploded and they were retrieved by investigators.
The second incident involves white supremacists in east Texas armed with poisonous gas. “The case was so sensitive” according to a local CBS affiliate “that President Bush received daily briefings.
Bill Karr, a supporter of the New Hampshire Militia and his supporter(s) produced hundred of cyanide bombs capable of killings hundreds, if not thousands of people. The white supremacists were producing poison similar to what was used by the state to execute people.
The group possessed illegal machine guns, boxes filled with a half-million rounds of ammunition, 100 homemade bombs, nerve agents and the antidotes for the nerve agents and a Ku Klux Klan calling card.
Did this make it as a headline on CNN, MSNBC or faux news? Did Sean Hannity wax philosophical about the dangers of right-wing terrorist groups? Did Bill O’ Reilly yammer on incessantly about the dangers of these right wing groups that want to kill you and our loved ones here?
After all, the cities listed in their plans included Harrisburg, PA, Roanoke, VA, Bristol, TN and other American cities as Zone One areas.
Let’s move on to incident number 3. Demetrius “Van” Crocker.
Mr. Crocker is a right-wing extremist who happens to be white.
Mr. Crocker was convicted in April of trying to obtain a chemical weapon and for possessing stolen explosives. He was sentenced to 30 years in prison.
Crocker told undercover FBI agents he was going to detonate a briefcase bomb while Congress was in session.
Mr. Crocker thought he was purchasing the ingredients to make Sarin nerve gas and a block of C-4 explosives from the agents.
Did Wolf Blitzer have a panel of experts on to discuss the dangers of ultra-conservative males? Did any pollsters run a poll asking, “In light of the recent attempts by ultra-conservative white males to get nerve agents and bombs that could kill thousands of Americans, should we be profiling these people?” or “Are you afraid to live next door to conservative white males because they could be part of a hate group that would want to kill you and your family?”
Which brings us to the fourth episode. To those who say, “It could never happen here.” I bring you to the attention of America’s newest hero, radio personality Jerry Klein. Jerry Klein started on a hate-filled, Muslim bashing rant just after Thanksgiving where, among other things, he said that Muslims should have to wear ‘crescent-shaped tattoo’ or an armband to identify them as Muslim.
The first caller basically told him he was crazy. But, the second caller and many more after that called to agree with his anti-Muslim statements. Some even chided the talk show host for not going far enough.
It turns out that Mr. Klein staged his rant to see what the reaction would be. To say the least, he was extremely disturbed (as anyone should) by the number of people who called to agree with him – or to say we need to go further.
Was this covered for days by CNN? Was it the front page of the NY Times? Were any of these stories on the front page?
Where was the outrage? Where was the fear mongering? Where was the concern that these people were a danger to the safety and the fabric of American society? Where were Gibson, Bennett, Watts and Coulter to create fear and hatred of conservative, white male Americans?
Why aren’t we deporting these people and all their relatives?
Why are we waiting for them to strike?
