Poll question: How Crazy are you?
Lyle H. Rossiter, Jr, MD has written a book about Liberalism, in which he, as a trained Doctor, tries to explain liberalism as a mental disease. They excerpted a bit at Townhall today, and it's about as bad as you would think. http://www.townhall.com/columnists/LyleHRossiterJrMD/2006/12/04/the_liberal_mind_the_psychological_causes_of_political_madness

But the faulty conceptions that lie behind these passions cannot be viewed as mere cognitive slippage. The degree of modern liberalism’s irrationality far exceeds any misunderstanding that can be attributed to faulty fact gathering or logical error. Indeed, under careful scrutiny, liberalism’s distortions of the normal ability to reason can only be understood as the product of psychopathology. So extravagant are the patterns of thinking, emoting, behaving and relating that characterize the liberal mind that its relentless protests and demands become understandable only as disorders of the psyche. The modern liberal mind, its distorted perceptions and its destructive agenda are the product of disturbed personalities.

So my question to you is, How Crazy are you?

1. Wow, I've never seen a doctor exclude himself from being allowed to practice before
by writing an article. I mean, if you're going to misuse medical terms that much, and declare a significant proportion of the population 'insane' against all medical reality (even writing a whole book about it), you shouldn't be allowed to practice with the public, should you? It's like the Soviet Union putting dissidents in mental hospitals for holding views against the Communist Party.

It's one thing for a hack like Coulter to abuse medical terminology; for someone putting 'MD' after his name is awful. Any professional bodies he belongs to ought to be looking at expelling him.

2. If you substituted "neo-con" or "right-wing conservative"
for "liberal" then I think you'd be a lot closer to the truth.

3. This sounds like the RW's response to the study released recently
that shoiwed a correlation between extreme conservative thinking and psychological problems.

6. Crazier than an outhouse rat.
Dancing with the goofies.

A few loose boards in the attic.

Half a bubble off plumb.

A few degrees from firing on top dead center.

Nuttier than a Goo-Goo Cluster.

8. Awwww that's just wingnut sour grapes....
The wingers are mad because a legitimate study was done that found "actual" mentally ill outpatients favored Bush. Like they did when this study was done in 1977 and they like Nixon.

So the nutters have made up a "doctor" to try and counter this study. Pretty much like they do with reality in general when you think about it....

Bush Nuts
Are George W. Bush lovers certifiable?
November 23, 2006
By Andy Bromage

A collective “I told you so” will ripple through the world of Bush-bashers once news of Christopher Lohse’s study gets out.

Lohse, a social work master’s student at Southern Connecticut State University, says he has proven what many progressives have probably suspected for years: a direct link between mental illness and support for President Bush.

Lohse says his study is no joke. The thesis draws on a survey of 69 psychiatric outpatients in three Connecticut locations during the 2004 presidential election. Lohse’s study, backed by SCSU Psychology professor Jaak Rakfeldt and statistician Misty Ginacola, found a correlation between the severity of a person’s psychosis and their preferences for president: The more psychotic the voter, the more likely they were to vote for Bush.

I mean there are some that I feel ok doing it to, like COulter, but condemning the whole group of thought as crazy seems beyond the pale.

23. This quack would have been a good fit as Herr Doktor for the Third Reich brass...
The first step to disposing of a mass segment of society is to "otherize" them, declare them mentally unsound, and categorize them as a threat to the precious purity of the uber-volk.

Any shrink who would actually write a book like Rossiter did is highly suspect, and probably unbalanced himself. :grr:
