Oh Shit... I just had a brainstorm
On what should be done if bush rejects the suggestion that he should talk to Iran and Syria .

The Democrats should form there own delegation to Iran and negotiate a deal with them, and let it be known from the start that this deal is contingent on them gaining the presidency in 08.
Let it also be known from the get go that the people of the US will be voting on the idea.
Why not a clear choice in 08.

Does that sound too crazy or what?

4. Article II Section 1
of the Constitution of the United States is pretty clear on this topic. It's always good to read the Constitution.

13. Yep.
You are right -- it is Section 2. I should follow my own advice, and read it! It's hell getting old and losing one's memory!

14. You mean it is illegal to do it openly?
And it would not be a real deal until an democrat victory in 08, no different than saying "I ill talk to Iran if elected"

17. I mean it
is no more likely to happen than having the House hear legal cases that are on appeal to the US Supreme Court. The Constitution defines the role of each of the three branches of the federal government. That's the separation of powers that is so important to our democracy.

7. That ain't even gonna play in public
Of course this sort of thing goes on all the time but it cannot be public, Dems pretty roundly condemn Reagan for doing just this sort of thing with the US-embassy hostages held prisoner by Iran.

12. Insane and unconstitutional, but other than that a good idea.
No, seriously. I like the idea quite a bit. It's just not practical. Keep it up, though.
