I stand with Cindy
She has guts - a backbone - a spine

She walks the walk

If wearing a memorial to the dead offends anyone's sensibilities, you might want to rethink your sensibilities and what you find offensive.

17. Oh, I Love What She Did
Maybe the timing was a bit off (would have been great if she had made a scene during the speech instead), but she did the kind of thing more people in this country should be doing. It's too quiet, & I'm tired of it. Where are all the rebels?!!!

127. I'm proud of her for *not* making a scene. Peaceful protest.
The guard who arrested her did so when he saw her remove her jacket exposing the t-shirt. Like Donald Sutherland at the end of the 1978 remake of "The Body Snatchers" this pathetic little pod-person barked "Protester!" at her - then roughly dragged her from her chair, and roughly pushed her up the stairs while pinning her arms behind her back, bruising her and causing arm spasms.

This is what it's come to. Of course, the wife of the Congressman who had a pro-war slogan on her shirt was merely politely escorted from the room. Not arrested. Not roughed up.

I'd love to be the attorney representing Cindy against the government on this one.

20. Arrested for wearing a tee shirt
no matter what it said, is unconscienable. Having said that, I'm not impressed by Sheehan. I'm grateful to her for getting the ball rolling, but everytime I hear her speak, I'm less impressed. I watched the C-SPAN impeach thing yesterday and listened to her. Aside from the fact that in her short speech, she said "you Know" over thirty times, she just didn't say very much, and she didn't say it well.

80. I stand with Cindy. Unlike DiFi, she has guts to oppose the Pres.
DiFi does have a certain kind of courage. Feinstein continues to support an unpopular war, but there is really no courage in that, because she stands with wealthy, priveged America, who are far removed from the consequences. Her income has gone up. She or her friends or family will never see combat.

Cindy is a regular working person. For families like this, the continuation of the war has deadly consequences. That is why Cindy stood up. Or sat down with a t-shirt. or sat down at Crawford. And doesn't give up.

84. Count me in
I missed much of the news today because I'm working a late shift so I slept all day
I haven't really have had time to get angry.

I seem to remember a thread where a couple hundred people advocated the Democrats to just get up and walk out. I liked that idea. Kinda rude, though, dontcha think?

Now, I would never be invited to a State of the Union address at this point in my life, of course. But If I had, I would have been arrested much earlier, I'm sure.

Some folks seem to think Ms. Sheehan should have worn a little black dress, with matching accessories. Tasteful, low-heeled pumps. Sat there quiet and ladylike, because by-God you need to SHOW respect at a function like that. "She Should Have Dressed Appropriatly" is what I've read quite a lot of. Respect for a mass murderer who steals elections and souls and thinks he's more important than the constitution. I don't have time or energy to enumerate what a complete waste of human being I feel bush is, or the ways his presidency has possibly damaged the US more than any other in history.

Cindy, you were as appropriate as I could wish. Love the shirt girl.

I've always held that Cindy should do just whatever she decides to.

I don't agree that she has any power whatsoever to hurt any movement.

She hurts only one group, and that's BushCo...she puts them into a whole world of hurt. Even her undershirts cause distress for them! :-)

96. ***PERMALINK for the BradBlog story on the arrest - it's being updated
continuously and seems to me to be the best place for information on this outrage:

BradBlog has the full, updated coverage: blogged by Brad starting 1/31/2006 @ 5:52pm PT and ongoing:
BREAKING: CINDY SHEEHAN ARRESTED BY CAPITOL POLICE INSIDE CAPITOL CHAMBER FOR WEARING IRAQ KIA T-SHIRT!
Was to Attend State of the Union Address! Was Already Seated in Gallery When Arrested by Capitol Police!

http://www.bradblog.com/archives/00002355.htm

The updates are ongoing - good site to come back to for the full story as it unfolds.

105. Cindy did exactly the right thing . . . and she accomplished something . .
rather significant . . .

first, if she didn't completely shift the focus from the SOTU, she at least forced the media to split it some . . .

and second, unlike the corporate press, Cindy tried to get the truth out to the American people . . truth about the number of American casualties in Iraq (which the press is ignoring), and truth about BushCo's complete disdain for First Amendment rights (which the press is also ignoring) . . . if she doesn't do it, who will? . . . the Congress? . . . the press? . . .

these are not "normal" timed . . . we're facing national and global crises of historic proportions -- and most people don't even know it . . .

if Cindy helped to awaken just a few more Americans, she accomplished a hell of a lot more than she would have sitting on her hands and politely listening to more lies from the scum who got her son killed . . .

Bravo, Cindy! . . .

Thanks for trying to represent the truth in a theater of the absurd.

Military uniforms, judges robes, power suits, plastic surgery, blue ties, red ties, medals, etc.

Your mere presence is enough to terrify them. Those who say that it is inappropriate conduct need to stop and think about those numbers; they represent what were living, breathing people. How could they then continue place the comfort of Dear Leader and his enablers above their memories?
