Fugging Hell -breaking on CNN
Edited on Mon Dec-04-06 11:34 AM by malaise
Egyptian police have arrested an American and other foreigners invovled in plotting terror attacks in the Middle East including Iraq. No surprise here. The people of the Middle East are waking up and fast.

Add: other foreigners.

Operation Northwoods as an example. I think the Germans did some in early WW2 with fake Polish soldiers attacking a German radio station as a pretext for thier invasion of Poland.

57. It was some Polish prisoners they used
Dressed them up in captured Polish Army uniforms, took twelve of them out to the Polish/German border, and the 'defending' Germans 'heroically' shot the viscious attackers of the Fatherland. A thirteenth person was killed at the radio station. He was a German named Franciszek Honiok, who sympathized with Poles living in the region. The Germans transmitted a Polish-language broadcast from the radio station urging the Poles in the region to rise up against the Germans, then poisioned and shot Honiok and left his body at the station as proof.

It was a part of a larger operation called "Operation Himmler", a series of 21 such 'attacks' used to justify the invasion of Poland the next day.

62. Right
Also Edward Lansdale, in the very beginning of the Vietnam War, was doing the same thing, having his CIA forces comit war crimes against the Vietnamese in the uniforms of the PAVN and other military so it would be blamed on them.

41. False flag attacks
False flag operations are covert operations conducted by governments, corporations, or other organizations, which are designed to appear as if they are being carried out by other entities. The name is derived from the military concept of flying false colors; that is, flying the flag of a country other than one's own.

False flag attacks as pretexts for war

In the Gleiwitz incident in 1939, Reinhard Heydrich fabricated evidence of a Polish attack to mobilize German public opinion, and to fabricate a false justification, for a war with Poland.

In the 1931 Mukden incident, Japanese officers fabricated a pretext for annexing Manchuria by blowing up a section of railway.

The planned, but never executed, 1962 Operation Northwoods plot by the U.S. administration for a war with Cuba involved scenarios such as hijacking a passenger plane and blaming it on Cuba. It was authored by the Joint Chiefs of Staff, nixed by John F. Kennedy, came to light through the Freedom of Information Act and was publicized by James Bamford.

Terrorism and false flag operations

Terrorist attacks may sometimes be in fact false flag operations, as in the Italian strategy of tension in which several bombings in the 1970s, attributed to far-left organizations, were in fact carried out by far-right organizations cooperating with the Italian secret services (see Operation Gladio). Elsewhere in Europe, the Mouvement d'Action et Défense Masada, supposedly a Zionist group, was really a neo-fascist terrorist group which hoped to increase tension between Arabs and Jews in France.

East Germany gave covert support to the Red Army Faction (RAF), which was active from 1968 and carried out a succession of terrorist attacks in West Germany during the 1970s and to a lesser extent in the 1980s.<7> After German reunification in 1990, it was discovered that the RAF had received financial and logistic support from the Stasi, the security and intelligence organization of East Germany.<8> It had also given several RAF terrorists shelter and new identities.<9> It had not been in the interests of either the RAF or the East Germans to be seen as co-operating. The apologists for the RAF argued that they were striving for a true socialist (communist) society not the sort that existed in Eastern Europe. The East German government was involved in Ostpolitik, and it was not in its interest to be caught overtly aiding a terrorist organization operating in West Germany, but as a proxy war forming part of the Cold War it was a cost effective stratagy. For more details see the History of Germany since 1945.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/False_flag

There are those here that believe "their" own Government would never engage in such tactics.
It's kind of pathetic that people are so easily fooled.

56. It's odd that when it's reported
that a number of mideasterners were apprehended planning an act of terror, so many here go out of their way to give them the benefit of the doubt and suggest that it's all trumped up conspiracy. Then when the tables are turned, we see an impressive rush to judgment that would make any freeper proud.

You're right, we need to wait and see what's going on.

Egyptian police arrest foreigners for allegedly plotting terror ...
USA Today - 12 minutes ago

Updated 12/4/2006 11:37 AM ET

CAIRO (AP) — Egyptian police have arrested an American, 11 Europeans and several others from Arab countries for allegedly plotting terrorist attacks in Middle Eastern countries including Iraq, the Interior Ministry said on Monday.

Authorities said the group was part of an Islamic militant terror cell that had adopted extremist ideas and were living in Egypt under the guise of studying Arabic and Islamic studies, the ministry said in a written statement.

Along with the American, police arrested two Belgians, nine French and several others from Egypt and other Arab countries including Tunisia and Syria, the statement said.

I would not be the first time for the CIA to foment religious extremism as a means to divide and conquer in order to overthrow some populist nationalist socialist leader so that he can be replaced by some kind of dictator who does have US interests at heart.

Check out Mossadeq, Iran, 1953. It's sufficiently long ago that previously secret govt docs about it have since been released. As someone who has studied those documents remarks:

"If you flip over the rock of American foreign policy of the past century, what crawls out (...) is enough to give imperialism a bad name."

Remember back when this mess first started there was a truck w/ a TX registration sticker outside a a deserted building in either Iraq or Afganistan--think it was Iraq. Inside, supposedly, was bomb making equipment.
Guess no one took time to trace the registration to follow up on the connection..chimp probably doesn't want us to know/remember it.

Makes you wonder about this little tidbit, also..are there really "camps" down here..and I mean more than just a couple of guys playing weekend warrior who are now getting busted by the feds.
