What's this BUSHIT about a 'handful of senators' blocking Bolton
Edited on Mon Dec-04-06 02:34 PM by LynneSin
This is such a load of crap. There was over 40 senators who blocked the original nomination of John Bolton, which is a hell of alot more than 'a handful'. AND if you consider that SIX of the senators that originally supported Bolton are now gone (Santorum, Allen, Talent, DeWine, Burns and yes, Chafee did vote yes) and they are replaced by six senators that would probably vote against the Bolton nomination (BTW, even Lieberman voted against the guy).

So this is utter BUSHIT that the press and the Bush Regime claim it was a 'handful of senators'. How many fricking fingers do they have on their hands? Last I counted it was 10 but the vote include way more than 10 who opposed him.

"I am deeply disappointed that a handful of United States Senators prevented Ambassador Bolton from receiving the up or down vote he deserved in the Senate,” Mr. Bush said. “They chose to obstruct his confirmation, even though he enjoys majority support in the Senate, and even though their tactics will disrupt our diplomatic work at a sensitive and important time.”

AND

A Republican senator, Jon Kyl, from Arizona, said it was a “shame that a handful of senators can thwart his confirmation, which is so needed right now.”

1. you ever try to organize ANYTHING with 40 senators present?
talk about a handful, mama mia, are they a handful! I mean, 40 egos, up to 80 distinct personalities, and between all that honing of sharp edges, waiting for one of their own accidently turning his back to them. You bet that's a handful.

6. Look. He doesn't like politics. It's an unbearable nuisance and a total
impertinence, since he's the Decider.

Why don't they all just shut up shop and go home? Close down the Congress and the Senate? And let he and his Neocon subordinates get on with the business of saving America from itself (i.e. turning it over, what's left of it, lock, stock and barrel, to his rich friends.

Heck, there's a war know don't people know that!

2. Clearly the Repubs didn't wanna vote for Bolton either. They pushed him out.
Clearly if he was worth the fight Lil Boots wouldn't have accepted his resignation.

8. I thought you needed at least 51 to approve
or disapprove. It seems to me that maybe bush and snow think people are going to believe that the dems had the majority in the senate. No way. The republicans had and still until December 31, 2006 have the majority.

16. His nomination was filibustered
To overcome the filibuster you need 60 senators to vote "Yes", they only had 54

13. Get used to the word "obstruct":, kids...
Every step we manage to take to slow down #'s train wreck will be called "obstructionist" by corpomedia..

Get ready to challenge it at every opportunity, too.
