Top Bush aide: White House must get 'mojo back'
Top Bush aide: White House must get 'mojo back'
POSTED: 2:05 p.m. EST, December 4, 2006

WASHINGTON (AP) -- White House chief of staff Joshua Bolten graciously offered his desk chair to President Clinton's chief of staff Leon Panetta when he was touring the West Wing with interns a few days after the election.

Seeing Panetta behind Bolten's desk, Karl Rove, President Bush's top political adviser, did a double take.

"God, I knew we lost the election -- I didn't think you were taking over the White House," Panetta recalls Rove saying.

Since the election, Bush is having to share the seat of power with the Democrats. And Bolten has become his bridge to Capitol Hill.

"The election was not a happy event around here, obviously," Bolten said, sitting on a couch in his spacious corner office where light streams in through tall windows. "Everybody's disappointed, but I haven't seen a single discouraged person."

To keep the staff focused, Bolten handed out about a dozen countdown clocks that show the number of days, hours, minutes and seconds left in Bush's presidency. The clock read 1,000 days in April when Bolten started his job, saying it was time for the White House to "get our mojo back."

8. i just had a VERY bad image in my head...
dur lil' fuhrer in union jack speedos trying to "out-mojo" the fem-bots to the tune of "i touch myself"

luckily the image was overcome by one of elizabeth hurley showing up in a skin-tight catsuit.

3. Their mojo has always been political capital
The illusion of a mandate. I don't they can get that back - at best they might have to go out and steal someone elses mojo.

I've had since depressingly horrible time it something like 1100 days left in office.

Now it's down to 777 today. (H'mmm wonder what will happen on 666?) Here's a link to two sites.

5. Bolton handed out countdown clocks? Remind me to never hire him to boost morale in my
office. I thought the Bushistas didn't like timetables?

9. It exemplifies the NeoCon thinking
Image is everything. Its not about being right. Its about appearing right. Bush and Co. lost their mojo because the curtains fell down caught on fire set the strawman on fire who ran around setting the building on fire which ignited a carelessly left propane tank that exploded sending the occupants of the room flying into the house next door landing on the people's television which finally got their attention long enough to notice the man behind the curtain.

10. I've lost track of how many times people have searched for Junior's "lost mojo"...
...but the irony is that the "mojo" was all a lie from the beginning.

EXHIBIT A: He's a fake Christian. He used the fundies to get what he wanted and laughed at them behind their backs, then someone wrote a book about it.

EXHIBIT B: He's a fake cowboy. The Crawford Pig Farm is a movie set converted into a "Western White House" for a badass cowboy who's afraid of horses. Of course, that didn't stop him from pillaging the legacy of Saint Ronnie Reagan...the freeps actually produced a bumper sticker at the time of Reagan's death emblazoned with "My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys," with a picture of Bush on one side and the Gipper on the other, both wearing cowboy hats. Very inspirational, if your head's up your...well, you know.

EXHIBIT C: He's a fake soldier. Oh, sure, he got into the Texas Air National Guard because he was afraid of Vietnam and his daddy made some phone calls, but he stopped showing up when they wanted him to pee in the cup. The result? Honorable discharge!

EXHIBIT D: He's a fake administrator-slash-businessman. Just because the Saudi royal family handed him business after business after business to run into the ground doesn't mean he has a talent for anything other than running things into the ground. Like America, for example.

If Bush is such a "born again Christian," he ought to get out his Bible (Poppy Bush claims he read it TWICE...WOW) and review the bit about building your house on sand.

Bush's Mojo? As the late, great Muddy Waters once sang, "You can't lose what you never had."

:patriot:

16. GOOD one!
Yep. You can't get back what you never had in the first place.

They MADE UP his "mojo." Just like his purported "compassionate conservative" character, it never existed. Just. Another. Lie.

11. Damme-
I thought they'd gotten their mojo back. Wasn't he elected to a senate seat as head of his own party, after losing to Ned Lamont in the primary?

19. He means he wishes we would forget the last six years.
The White House never had any mojo. They had a lack of scruples and a tame press corps.

Now they have a population demoralized by economic failures and endless war.
