The display features a 'Nancy Pelosi' angel, a 'suicide bomber' shepherd, and Marx, Lenin and Stalin as the Three Wise Men. REUTERS/Peter A. Silva (UNITED STATES)

1. wow. they really aren't very creative, are they?
not that I'm shocked or anything...

I wish people would research first and discover that the ACLU tends to protect religious freedom. But again: not shocked.

10. Zero creativity!
They are the worst satirists, artists, musicians, writers, poets, scientists, etc.... nothing there but thievery, death and destruction. Nothing.

7. If Republicans weren't THE largest consumers of child porn, this would be almost funny
In one of those sad/sick kind of ways.

Let me ask you folks who went to colleges where they had Young Repukes groups something: is there like, an IQ test or something to get in? And they won't let you in unless you fail it three times in a row?

11. Everytime the right tries something like this I am reminded of Cyrano
Its like the bar fight where someone tells him he has a big nose. And he completely destroys him by showing him just how lame his assault was. Perhaps this is the counter that needs to be down to this idiotic protest. Have a group of liberal/progressive/ACLU card carriers build their own mocking display and show them how it really should be done.

23. Cyrano's "tirade," from the Project Gutenberg English-language etext
Edited on Mon Dec-04-06 06:46 PM by Plaid Adder
You can find it in the original French here.. Or, enjoy this English translation:
*******************
THE VISCOUNT:
No one? But wait!
I'll treat him to. . .one of my quips!. . .See here!. . .
(He goes up to Cyrano, who is watching him, and with a conceited air):
Sir, your nose is. . .hmm. . .it is. . .very big!

CYRANO (gravely):
Very!

THE VISCOUNT (laughing):
Ha!

CYRANO (imperturbably):
Is that all?. . .

THE VISCOUNT:
What do you mean?

CYRANO:
Ah no! young blade! That was a trifle short!
You might have said at least a hundred things
By varying the tone. . .like this, suppose,. . .
Aggressive: 'Sir, if I had such a nose
I'd amputate it!' Friendly: 'When you sup
It must annoy you, dipping in your cup;
You need a drinking-bowl of special shape!'
Descriptive: ''Tis a rock!. . .a peak!. . .a cape!
--A cape, forsooth! 'Tis a peninsular!'
Curious: 'How serves that oblong capsular?
For scissor-sheath? Or pot to hold your ink?'
Gracious: 'You love the little birds, I think?
I see you've managed with a fond research
To find their tiny claws a roomy perch!'
Truculent: 'When you smoke your pipe. . .suppose
That the tobacco-smoke spouts from your nose--
Do not the neighbors, as the fumes rise higher,
Cry terror-struck: "The chimney is afire"?'
Considerate: 'Take care,. . .your head bowed low
By such a weight. . .lest head o'er heels you go!'
Tender: 'Pray get a small umbrella made,
Lest its bright color in the sun should fade!'
Pedantic: 'That beast Aristophanes
Names Hippocamelelephantoles
Must have possessed just such a solid lump
Of flesh and bone, beneath his forehead's bump!'
Cavalier: 'The last fashion, friend, that hook?
To hang your hat on? 'Tis a useful crook!'
Emphatic: 'No wind, O majestic nose,
Can give THEE cold!--save when the mistral blows!'
Dramatic: 'When it bleeds, what a Red Sea!'
Admiring: 'Sign for a perfumery!'
Lyric: 'Is this a conch?. . .a Triton you?'
Simple: 'When is the monument on view?'
Rustic: 'That thing a nose? Marry-come-up!
'Tis a dwarf pumpkin, or a prize turnip!'
Military: 'Point against cavalry!'
Practical: 'Put it in a lottery!
Assuredly 'twould be the biggest prize!'
Or. . .parodying Pyramus' sighs. . .
'Behold the nose that mars the harmony
Of its master's phiz! blushing its treachery!'
--Such, my dear sir, is what you might have said,
Had you of wit or letters the least jot:
But, O most lamentable man!--of wit
You never had an atom, and of letters
You have three letters only!--they spell Ass!
And--had you had the necessary wit,
To serve me all the pleasantries I quote
Before this noble audience. . .e'en so,
You would not have been let to utter one--
Nay, not the half or quarter of such jest!
I take them from myself all in good part,
But not from any other man that breathes!
*****************

Ahhh, that's good stuff.

C ya,

The Plaid Adder

13. You know what's sad about this?
These guys probably think this is like the funniest thing ever. I'm sure that all 6 members of the Young Conservatives of Texas had a great time cracking themselves up as they came up with the ideas for all the little figures and whatnot. Well, I don't begrudge them the chance to enjoy themselves; but it is a little pathetic that they then went out and exposed their ignorance and mean spirit for all to see in the middle of the Christmas season.

C ya,

The Plaid Adder

18. yes -- I wonder what will happen
... if those guys get an outraged phone call from a parent whose child was chosen to be a shepherd in a school or church Christmas pageant: "My son/daughter was looking forward to being in the play, after we made the costume and everything, and now he/she is really upset because you're saying that shepherds are terrorists, like the ones shooting at his/her elder sibling in Iraq!"

24. These Young Conservatives
seem so sad, and unnatural to me. I was their age during the early sixties, and back then we all tried to be anything BUT the way these kids are. We tried to imagine what it would be like one day, to be conservative, and pompous, like some of our parents were, but it didn't seem like a life worth pursuing. We had dreams, and hopes, that we could change the world. I remember shocking my parents by insisting that segregation was wrong, and must end completely.

These poor kids are trying too hard to be their parents, or grandparents. The cling stubbornly and foolishly to bigotry and smugness. How impoverished their souls must be! As far as wit, or talent, if they have any of that, they keep it well hidden. What a true waste of youth, when they could put their energy to work improving the world, instead of further dividing it.

Betcha.

Of course, anything is more than ZERO, which is the coverage our lovely Bushevik terrorists got for their attempted acts of terror (nerve gassing Harrisburg PA or "freeping" Congress with a homemade "freeping" device..you know, the kidn that geos BOOM), the sick fucks.

20. I rememember they got more press than Progressive Protest
I remember looking for a protest I went to and the local Austin tv station ran a week old story obout these guys throwing Kerry signs in "hazardous waste" bins, yet there was absolutely no mention of the progressive protest. Makes you wonder who the local affiliates favor and why they would run osmthing old vs something current. THAT PISSED me off to know end.

I can honestly say College Republicans back in Iowa back in the day were never this contentious, sure we had disagreement but we never had childish stunts like this.

With a few changes they'd look Great in MY front yard.. Keep the Pelosi angel and lose the Bomber, etc.. :)

Geez, it is OBVIOUS that they don't believe in Evolution, just LOOK at THEM.. I swear I see Gill Slits in some of these people sometimes :)

Where's the Liberal faction with ENLISTMENT PAPERS while this is going on? They'd flee like a cartoon cat on fire if asked to join up on the spot.. why aren't the RECRUITERS There? I thought they were all over campuses, anywhere there is a group they should be getting all chummy with them kids..

If I saw that I'd go over and draw a bunch of penises and boobies all over them, maybe back up a truck of Horse shit and dump it all over.. there's plenty of FUN to be had with that, if there's any Liberals with guts enough to STOMP these assholes left in Texas.. I've got a 68 Chevy that would make quick work, ala Animal House, of that setting...

Maybe nail a pic of Bush in a Kiddie Plane over the top..

Bomber Sheppards? That's the best you can come up with and YOU COMPLAIN about US not respecting Christmas? Dumb as ROCKS, they'll make GREAT LOSER REpublicans, I love it :)

would be outraged. Using the Nativity as a way to make such a horrendous political point. I mean, if they get so upset about Happy Holidays being a slap in the face of Christians, I would think this would set them into a real tizzy.
