Brit Hume: Bush's friends are worried about him

<paraphrase>

Hume has talked to friends of Bush who are worried about him, how Iraq has affected his presidency. Hume asked Bush about that, and Bush answered: "I am fine. I am sustained by the prayers of millions of people" Bush said this burden (presidency, Iraq?) is not heavy...

12. I'm sure Barney is just another media prop. Laura still has to hide the firecrackers
to keep the dog alive.

25. I wonder who his real friends are
not the political players who just want to ride along. But real friends who will tell him the truth. Does he have those friends? Does he have people close to him who can advise without personal interest? People who have known him a long time and who he trusts? People who trust him, as a person?
We haven't really seen that in six years. We've seen him surrounded by political operatives.
But friends?
Who are they? Where are they?

23. I think he misses a lot of sleep.
But it's because he's worried about his legacy, not all the people who have died because of his stupidity, amorality, and hubris.

15. Is the squatter is so damn enamored of prayers and burdens he
should be a fucking monk. The burden of presidency is heavy. If it seem not to be - then you are not doing your fucking job you vacuous POS.

We need someone willing to deal with political reality running the country - not some spaced out work avoiding intellectually vacuous ex-substance addict.

Prayers of a million people indeed. Those prayers by the way - are for the acceleration of your complete and utter collapse Mr.Squatter in chief.

26. That may be part of the problem
He has political allies. He has political appointees and employees.
We haven't seen friendships outside the realm of political advantage.
Maybe they exist. Maybe he that capacity to forge real friendships -- mostly, we see political alliances.

28. and even the appointees tend to be his father's friends
It's like he raided Bush Sr.'s Rolodex or something. You'd think that a guy who went to Andover, Yale, and Harvard would have an enormous network of contacts he could draw from (supposedly part of the advantage of going to such prestigious schools). Especially someone who is touted as a "people person" like Dubya.

Aside from Don Evans (whom he nearly killed while going for a joyride in a small plane), how many people are willing to claim him as a friend?

Friends would be people who would be honest and whom you'd treat as an equal. He has boatloads of sycophants, courtiers, yes-people, and general all-around suck-ups...but friends? doubtful

39. Bush is a psychopath and is not effected by anything except those that challenge him.
The only thing that clicks in George W. Bush's brain is perceptions of a challenge to him. He can only pretend to know empathy as he sees it in others.

He is a psychopath.
