Is hating Bush bad for my health?
Edited on Mon Dec-04-06 06:14 PM by RiverStone
Many of us here share a common experience; that experience being feeling a hatred for the BushCo regime and its criminal war of aggression (insert rant here).

I don't recall ever feeling so much anger towards a President. I don't ever remember actually feeling "hate" like this. I don't think hate is a particularly healthy thing to feel. :mad:

But the rage inside rocks on, and I wonder if I'm stuck with it for now. Its not 24/7, I laugh and have good relationships - but I'm also so f'ing angry!

So, what do you do with your hatred of BushCo??? I seek to channel it in a healthier direction, but I'm not doing too good.

* * * *

As a fan of the Dalai Lama and having met him in person, I can say he is one unique leader (and human) who really walks a path of humility and somehow, seems to have either let go of or controls his anger. I have his book, The Art of Happiness. Trying to learn...

The Dalai Lama once said:

This is my simple religion. There is no need for temples; no need for complicated philosophy. Our own brain, our own heart is our temple; the philosophy is kindness.

1. Yes
Any prolonged rage or hatred can eat away at you. It causes depression, it distracts you from things that need doing, it distracts you from things that are better for you. Its pretty destructive. It can chase away people that do not share your anger. It can blind you in all sorts of ways as well.

All in all hanging onto the anger is a bad idea. Recognise George as a problem but let go of the rage and work to fix the problem.

4. Hate is a terrible, stressful way to live...
...but so is numb resignation. Hate what needs hating, and be ready to work for reconciliation.

6. I find it difficult to hate as limited a human being as Stupid is
Think of all the things he's missed out on, especially being respected for who he is. He'll never experience that. He'll likely never experience true charity. He's damaged everything he once had by years of heavy alcohol abuse. He's hated by much of the world and almost two thirds of his own country.

A sociopath tries to get by on charm, it's all he has. When a majority of the people around him have finally seen through it, he moves on. Where in the world is Stupid going to move on to? He'll have to finish out his life in near isolation, pure torture for man like Stupid.

It's hard not to feel sorry for the man as I deplore everything he and his gang of lunatics and thieves have done to this country.

I'm a very bad Buddhist and it's difficult for me to develop compassion for swaggering blowhard bullies. However, some of them, like Stupid, are so very limited that it's a little easier in their case.

After all, would you rather SEE him or BE him?

8. If you have hate in your heart, let it out.

:rofl: {cue Clayton Bigsby}

I don't think it's the hate that kills you, it's the stress. There are quite a few Stepford haters in the world that seem to live forever, as well as people that coldly hate others or who are content but patronizing about their hate.

10. Hate Is Better Than Depression
Hate is energy that can be channeled outward and made to do useful work. Depression is a big hole in the soul that drains energy away.

13. I use spiritual practices
One is to use the breath, be aware of how you are breathing. If you find yourself growing angry, change your breath to even inbreaths and outbreaths. Sometimes it is helpful to start out with a deep sigh. If you continue to watch your breath, keeping it even, you will find it difficult if not impossible to remain angry.

14. I'd be MORE worried about your health if you LIKED Bush!
Edited on Mon Dec-04-06 08:06 PM by rocknation
Why SHOULDN'T you feel hatred and anger towards him--he's given you more than enough reasons to! It's certainly healthier than loving him, or even worse, PRETENDING that you love him because it's "not nice" to hate a president. Just channel your anger into ways of exposing him to others and supporting Democrats, and keep channeling your laughter and love into healthly relationships.
