If I chose a republican it would be Romney
Mitt Romney seems like a reasonable republican, he also had a good legislative accomplishment in providing health care to the citizens of Massachusetts. He worked with the Democrats and got it done. He seems to be a pragmatic man, although he is religious, he doesn't allow that to control his decisions. He's a mormon, not a right wing evangelical nut.

2. And if I chose an extremely painful dental procedure, it would be...
...no offense, but what the sam hell are you talking about?

If I chose a Republican, it would be nonexistent, because I'd have to go through the Green and Libertarian Parties first, and besides, I'm a DEMOCRAT.

3. He has all but dismantled social services in Massachusetts
he also snuck in a right wing appointment a few days ago in a stem cell research type position - and he is a hypocrite - I guess that qualifies him as the best republican... NOT!
there is no best republican, is there.

4. I live in Mass .... don't let the slick hair fool you
He has been on vacation more than blivet** has. He is a do nothing gov, and those of us here are relieved that he has been so. He has spent his time trying to strike down the constitution of the state, so much so, that he has done little else.

I encourage you to reconsider Willard "Mitt" Romney and his Magic Underwear. Please.

16. He's Very, Very, Very Dangerous
As a fellow Mass resident...
1. He's startlingly evil
2. He's 20x smarter than Bush
3. Seems like a reasonable guy - until you realize he has a grenade halfway up your colon.

6. Don't be fooled. He will do and say ANYTHING to get elected
The man has NO bedrock principles - whatever Mitt thinks he needs to do to advance himself, he will. He needed to be a "moderate" Republican to get elected in Massachusetts, so he gave told voters he was pro gay rights and pro choice - both of which he quickly reneged on once he got elected. See, he knows that if he is going to win the national Republican primary, he can't be too "liberal." So he immediately became anti-choice and is leading the call to ban gay marriage in MA.

He is a total and complete scumbag and anyone who's ever lived in Massachusetts can fill you in with the rest. Let's just say there's a reason he isn't running for re-election, and his memory is so beloved that his little puppet Barbie Healey got a whopping 39% of the vote against Deval Patrick.

As said somewhere else in this thread, he will say and do what ever he thinks he should to court the base. This is NOT who we are in Mass at all.

12. Any Republican now would be much the same.
The GOP is a corrupt machine, and anyone they put on the presidential ticket will continue the corporate dismantling of America.

It has been a long time since I've been able seriously to consider voting for a Republican. I would like to have more of a choice in the voting booth, but the GOP is jsut too dangerous.

Come to Massachusetts. This man has fucked our state up the ass with no lube...Fuck him and the Mormon horse he rode in on. You have NO idea what you're talking about. He pretended to be pro-choice to get elected, and then came out as anti-choice now that he's leaving and running for Prez...He hates gays, cut funding to the state mental hospitals and homeless shelters a month before Christmas...Seriously, learn something before you start thinking he's some sort of reasonable fucking Republican... :puke:

I'd rather have my testicles ripped from my body than have Romney in any position of power over me.

And, if given such position, Romney would probably gladly perform the duty - RW antigay asshat that he is.

32. He's a master flip-flopper
He's competent compared with Bush, but he's a political chameleon. He'll say or do anything to get elected.

He ran for the Senate in 1994 against Ted Kennedy as a liberal Republican, pro-choice and supportive of gay rights.

He ran for Massachusetts governor as a moderate Republican who, though personally pro-life, was pro-choice and though he said he did not favor gay marriage, he promoted domestic partnerships and marched in a gay pride parade.

Then, he decided he wanted to be president, so he turned around, abruptly declared he supported South Dakota's abortion ban and supported overturning Roe v. Wade, announced he supported a gay marriage ban both statewide and nationally, and went around to evangelical conferences trashing his state and calling himself an ardent "conservative."

As for health care? He didn't obstruct, which is good, but the bill was put together entirely by the Democratic legislature. He just signed it.
