Man Gets 4 Years For Killing Kittens During Burglary
23-Year-Old Admits To Cutting Kitten In Half, Putting Another In Freezer

POSTED: 4:22 pm EST December 4, 2006
UPDATED: 5:26 pm EST December 4, 2006

LAKE COUNTY, Ohio -- A 23-year-old man convicted of breaking into a home, burglarizing it and killing two of the homeowner's kittens was sentenced on Monday.

William Whitlow will spend four years in prison for the incident that took place earlier this year in Eastlake.

NewsChannel5's Joe Pagonakis reported that Whitlow's victims' owners believe he should have received more time in prison.

Whitlow admitted to cutting one of the kittens in half and putting the other kitten in a freezer, leaving it to die.

1. I agree witht the owners-- this sick fuck should rot in jail until...
...he learns some genuine remorse for what he did.

19. Gee, and I get flamed to a crisp for saying something similar
about a sodding brat who threw eggs into oncoming traffic to cause some fairly upscale destruction and probably some injuries or deaths too. By people who loved to take out the context of "into oncoming traffic", no less, because the whole truth would ruin their credibility.

23. Was I a little harsh?
I guess I should have suggested stuffing the bastard in the freezer, instead. :)

25. Cool!
Pun not intended...

I shouldn't be so much into levity, what the guy did was truly sick... but the kittens didn't incite him to kill them.

I can not imagine a scenario where a kitten would be deserving of death. Not even if it was trying to act like a squirrel and dart around moving traffic... (I've never understood squirrels... maybe they were lemmings or motorcycle riders in their previous lives...)

29. Yeah, I hate it when those squirrels use me to commit suicide.
It's pretty damn thoughtless of them. x(

5. Animal abuse is a tell tale precursor crime to really bad shit later
George W. Bush used to abuse small animals too.

Almost all serial killers start out killing animals like this guy. Not hunting, but hurting for fun or just because.

6. 4 Years is too little time
Especially for the way he killed them (not that there is a good way to kill)
If this degenerate moves to your community when he gets out of jail, you best watch out for your families and your neighbors safety. This is how the vast majority of serial killers get started.

7. What a shitbag
It would be a shame if the homeowner popped this scum with a shotgun. A real shame...

Hope he gets a viral friend for life in the shower.

12. sick phuck
He should have gotten jail time for this.

There was a case in California, Leo http://dogsinthenews.com/issues/0104/articles/010413a.htm , who got four years for throwing a woman's dog into traffic to his death.

Bastards.

14. I wonder what his freeper handle is.
I also wonder when we'll seriously track animal abusers -- they just seem to get around, always on the move, making things worse for everyone. It's the red flag of red flags.

17. You can't punish someone into being kind and loving.
I find it very troubling that we can't seem to find ways to help people besides throwing them in cages. This person is in a world of pain or he wouldn't be doing the things he did. It's really sad. I just think we are doing things all wrong. I think that it doesn't make sense to us to actually help those who need it the most. So we do what feels right. We toss them behind bars. And just what will this man be like in four years? I know I'll get flamed for this post, but it's how I feel. It's how I've always felt.

22. Frontal Lobotomy
that person is damaged goods and can not be repaired. Until some neurological fix is in place this person belongs behind bars.

Obviously I am not suggesting the state remove part of his brain..

28. I hear you but I'm beginning to think there are just simply defective people
...like burned out light bulbs. "Fixing" them isn't worth the trouble. Read Heinlein's _Stranger in a Strange Land_ if you haven't, this conundrum is addressed with a considerable amount of sensibility.

As noted above, animal torture is often a sign of profound emotional disturbance, perhaps even sociopathy.

30. If somebody broke into my house
and I'm there, they're going to leave in handcuffs or a body bag. It's their choice. And if they tried to cut Lamar in half, they've already made their choice.
