Bush-ignored-advice-to-be "extra-senstive" when talking to Webb about his son:
This says everything you need to know about George Bush. He was warned in advance to be sensitive when talking to Jim Webb about his son. Webb's son recently had a very close call in Iraq. Instead, the President was just a dick. No surprise. That is how he runs the country.

Via Think Progress:
But according to Rep. Jim Moran (D-VA), Bush was told that Webb’s son had a recent brush with death in Iraq and was warned to be “extra sensitive” when talking to the Sen.-elect. ThinkProgress yesterday spoke with Moran’s office and confirmed the congressman’s statement, first reported by hcc in VA:
Not only did Bush know about it, he was specifically briefed on the incident before meeting with Webb, and was cautioned to be extra sensitive in speaking with Webb about his son.
After such a briefing, Bush perhaps shouldn’t have been so surprised about Webb’s unwillingness to chit-chat about his son.
The right-wingers have been apoplectic about Webb's interchange with Bush. Of course, as usual, none of them hold Bush accountable.

Eleanor Clift from Newsweek offered what Webb might have said:
Webb could have asked how the Bush girls are doing, partying their way across Argentina. He could have told Bush he was worried about his son; the vehicle next to him was blown up recently, killing three Marines. Given the contrast between their respective offspring, Webb showed restraint.
Bush is leading us to defeat in Iraq. He's making our country weak in the eyes of the world. He hasn't caught the terrorists who attacked America. But, the right wing is offended that Webb was mean to Bush. They're a pathetic bunch -- and it's not their kids who are over there fighting in Bush's war.

1. What you don't understand is that "how's your boy" WAS
*'s attempt to be extra sensitive. That's what he thinks is sensitive (getting asked about your son by the mighty all powerful Prez). This DOES say all you need to know about GWB. He doesn't have a clue about what it means to be sensitive -- he just doesn't have those kind of social skills.

2. Why would he have them? He's never needed them in the past
All he needs to remember is that he's the man and the rest of the world can either like it or lump it.

8. Yup. For Smirk, "patronizing" is the same as "sensitive."
It just stuns me that nobody in the media suggested what any decent President would have said in response to Webb's reply: "Yes, I think we'd all like to see them home safe as soon as possible."

What's so difficult about that? Even Nixon would say that. Even Reagan. Even Bush41. Even people incapable of saying that sincerely know how to fake it. Not Smirk. Smirk isn't even within spitting distance of being an emotionally healthy human being. He's a pathological narcissist and belongs in a padded cell for the rest of his miserable life.

3. bush like every other
American who supports his dunderass are ignorant, arrogant, hatefilled bastards. Webb should have kicked his ass. I wonder how is supporters would have thought about Webb then. No doubt the facist bush support bastards in Virginia would rather have their racist hero as senator. No doubt he would represent them well.

The bush sluts party while Webb's son is forced to stay the course because a fucking madman is in the white house.

social skills, but they have plenty of attitude.

When Webb didn't kiss his ass, chimp did what came naturally - went smarmy and sarcastic on him. Webb showed remarakable restraint in a situation that called for a zinger like, "My boy's over in Iraq trying not to get his ass blown off while your daughters are displaying their naked asses in hotel hallways. You ought to be ashamed for even asking."

11. Excellent decription of the shithead!
In future textbooks on one of those pages where they show little pictures of each US President, they'll have to stick the chimp down at the bottom with an asterisk and your colorful language.

14. A few have compared Bush asking about Webb's son
To Tony Soprano asking about your family - meaning, it's an implied threat. I think Stephanie Miller did it first, but I could be wrong.

Bush knows that what he's done and what he continues to do is fucked up beyond all reason. He knows that he's responsibe either directly or indirectly for all the murder and mayhem in Iraq.

And yet on top of it all, like Lyndon Johnson he still enjoys exposing to the world the tragic stupidity responsible for his actions:

"Graceful exit? Not on my watch. NOW HEAR THIS (raises a haunch)....BRAAAPPPPP! Heh, heh."

9. "The rw who are
"apoplectic" don't have a leg to stand on. It's not bush daughters who are in Iraq..it's Senator James Webb's son and bush is the one who lied to send soldiers to their death and be maimed for life.

If Justice were even a tiny bit served.. the simian would have been wearing another pretzelshiner after his encounter with reality.

10. President Bush has no manners or empathy.
If he did, he would have said, "I look forward to them all coming home, too."

12. Maybe it's just me
but does anyone else find it offensive that he called Mr. Webb's son "your boy"? Should a young man who is man enough to go to war be referred to as "your boy?"

13. I think "your son" would have been much more
appropriate and respectful. Even better to mention the son by name. Would show interest and thoughtfulness - neither of which chimp is capable of. He probably could barely get the "How's your boy?" out without choking - considering he was addressing it to someone he perceives as an enemy.
