C-SPAN 2 is labeling Lieberman as "D", not "I" |
|
Why? Is it a mistake or has Lieberman switched back to (officially) being a Democrat?

was our VP candidate a couple of cycles ago.
And until the day he declares otherwise, he's still a Democrat in my book (even if an "independent*" Democrat).
*: Whatever the frell this means.

7. He declared otherwise by running against the designated |
|
Democrat after the primaries.
Fuck him. When the next congress convenes, he's out of the party.

Good plan.

13. He may caucus with us, but he votes with them anyway. |
|
If it hadn't been for the repugs voting for him instead of their own candidate he'd have been kicked to the curb.
I would not be at all surprised to see him officially switch to republican after congress convenes. He sees his not getting the nomination as a personal betrayal by the democratic party, and he is going to turn around and serve the same back.
We have the House - if the Senate is 50/50 it's no big thing, because his vote will be with the corporatists in any case.
So I say, let him go.

if you're prepared to give up control of the Senate because of personal animus (or whatever), then we must disagree on this point.
The voting record of many Democratic Senators pleases me not at all. But I'm willing to sacrifice "ideological purity" for the sake of having the power to better resist w-and-company (like say, the power to block extreme judicial nominees).

8. Well, he ran as an "Independent." So I guess that's what he's calling himself now. |
|
Btw, it would be fine with me if he switched back to Democrat. I'll gladly let bygones be bygones if it will assure we keep the Senate. :hide:

12. Which is another critter altogether. He definitely did not run as |
|
a candidate for the Democratic Party, whatever label he cares to adopt.

what did you expect? He wasn't even beaten badly in the primary.
If you're going to take a powerful incumbent out, you have to be prepared to take him out in the general election (not just the primary) -- especially if he has lots of powerful friends -- and lots of money (or access to same).

17. What does "like" have to do with it? |
|
Maybe the world runs on your likes and dislikes (although I find this rather unbelievable) -- it sure doesn't run on mine.
Try guessing better -- or more intelligently.
