You know what is great about having Congress back? Aside from, like, everything else, I mean. It's that when the Congressional Republicans trot out their little talking points for the media, it finally now looks like the pathetic whining it always was.
For instance, who can now look at something like this:
Frist says Dems "played politics" with Bolton nominationwithout then saying, "Look! Over there! On the floor of the Senate! It's THE WORLD'S SMALLEST VIOLIN! See, the guy who's playing is standing right in the middle of that river that Bill Frist is crying us."
Yeah. We finally yanked a guy who has been an unmitigated disaster out of a job that he would never have been given by anyone who still cared about diplomacy and thus began the process of limiting the damage done by the most catastrophic foreign policy ever initiated by a boneheaded American president. But that's bad, because it's "playing politics."
You know what, Frist? Talk to the mandate.
We don't have to get all het up and bent out of shape and pissed off about this kind of stuff any more...because it no longer matters. Bolton has resigned. There will be no more recess appointments. Complain away, Senator Frist. Nobody's listening.
C ya,
