Why dd Poppy cry?
Was it because the dreams of having a Royal Family to rule over America have ended?

1. He was talking about Jeb Bush losing in 1994.
If Jeb Bush had been elected governor that year, then we might have a more competent Bush in the White House.

22. Yes, probably fewer dead and one less war...
but the country would still have been for sale and the evangelicals given concessions to get the necessary votes to elect him. Jeb's wife looks so sad. His daughter has had her problems. Not a happy household even if the rumors about Jeb the "playboy" are a lie.

If you think about the words, then apply them to blivet**, the recent election, and the war, he was crying because blivet** has screwed everything up so completely.

This is true...
I was told by a therapist, that people who have been evil and abusive
their entire lives--have very depressing senior years.

The are emotionally held together by a solid wall of denial--when they
are young and middle aged. When they get old, they no longer have the
emotional energy to prop up that wall of denial. It begins to crumble.

I totally agree with you that serious issues are surfacing with Bush Sr.
Every time he speaks publicly, he cries. Those tears are stuffed emotions
bubbling to the surface. Most people would experience deep, debilitating pain,
if they hurt others on the grand scale that the Bush's have. However, the Bush's
stuff their pain--and now it's coming back for Bush Sr.

Time to pay the fiddler, sir.

You can't rape, pillage, lie, and lead an evil life forever. The truth
always rises to the surface.

THIS TIME Shrub and the idiots he surrounded himself with have really brought shame on the Bush name. For all of history, when that name is mentioned,it will be associated with disaster. No man ever wants his offspring to do that to the family name.

It is all crashing down on him.

24. When W and Poppy walked into the White House
After W had been installed a pres, it's reported the the elder welled up with tears over what he called the "enormity" of the event. Enormity is commonly used incorrectly as it means evilness. So Poppy was actually just predicting the future without realizing it.

17. why he cried ...
I agree: Bush 41 was talking about Jeb, but thinking about * is the short of it.

The longer version is that he knows that *'s historical legacy is screwed forever. He knows that Iraq is not simply in a civil war, it's no longer a cohesive, governable country in any sense at all, and this is due to *'s bungling. He knows that * is mentally ill. The depth of his grief should tell the world just how bad things are in bushworld these days.

Any parent would be depressed, and even devastated at such a public unraveling of an adult child on the world stage.

* will live on and on in infamy. There is no rescue for his name. There will be no more Bush candidacies, because of the horrid regime of *.

That's my guess anyway.

19. Not only that - but imagine you're the parent of a kid who is always
in trouble. Yuo keep bailing him out, hoping he'll grow up. Then he becomes a big acheiver and you think you can relax. But you find out that even as an older man, he is still the same fucked up kid who will never do right.

I do think that personal aspect is there.

39. Dead on I'll bet
And he knows what's going on behind the scenes. Plenty most likely. Remember when Nixon unravelled and it was kept secret from all but the insiders. What lies ahead for the Bush family is probably really bad. The end of the Bush presidency will be messy. If he doesn't know it consciously he intuits it. I wish I didn't look forward to it with vindictive glee relishing the terrible spectacle but my better instincts may awaken a bit of pity and compassion in the end. Watching Nixon depart the White House was almost as tragic as watching a Shakespearian last act. I still feel sympathy for Nixon's tragic flaw. But while hundreds of thousands are dying and suffering it is difficult not wanting very bad things to happen to the monsters responsible. His sociopath son will never suffer from guilt.

Now, that glob of wayward sperm has so sullied the Bush name that they are ruined in politics.
Think about it. Not even Preston being a Nazi sympathizer could do that.

which means he is diverting attention from their election thefts of 2000, 2002, and 2004 by making this statement so when more comes out about votereigging by Bush allies, the GOPs will find cover with the Dems do it, too, lie.

25. An INSANE sense of entitlement. Losing an election is a tragedy?? Bullshit.
In my view, it was a window into a truly sick soul - one that sobs over a lost election for his own son but shrugs off the appalling catastrophes and ruination for millions his policies have precipitated.

In what bizarro universe is coming in second in an election for a position of public trust a tragedy? How out-of-whack does one's sense of proportions have to be to break down in tears merely recalling it and have absolutely no compassion for millions of homeless and tens of millions without health care and thousands dead or maimed in a 'war' to enforce the global entitlements of the insanely wealthy??

Poppy is a sicko.

29. Poppy was always insanely jealous of the Kennedy's.
Edited on Tue Dec-05-06 01:15 PM by Sentinel Chicken
He fancied his family as American royalty and had great hopes his sons would eclipse Joe Kennedy's boys in their accomplishments.

So now where are we? Poppy is a one term President. Dubya is a national disgrace to put it mildly. Jeb is a 2 term governor and will most likely not get elected to national office ever.

George junior has blown poppy's dreams of grandeur straight to hell and ruined the chances of anyone bearing the name Bush to get elected as dog catcher let alone anything else.

Mem'ries,
Light the corners of my mind
Misty water-colored memories
Of the way we were

Scattered pictures,
Of the smiles we left behind
Smiles we gave to one another
For the way we were

Can it be that it was all so simple then?
Or has time re-written every line?
If we had the chance to do it all again
Tell me, would we? Could we?

Mem'ries,
may be beautiful and yet
What's too painful to remember
We simply choose to forget

So it's the laughter
We will remember
Whenever we remember...
The way we were...
The way we were...

and power. The Kennedys had a sense of public duty, of what was best for the collective and not simply their own selfish, pathetic little desires like the Bushes. That is why the Kennedys were held in such high esteem while the Bush family inches closer to the sewer every day.
