Appropriation bills must be pretty insignificant. Why even have them? |

Our fiscal year ends in October, and yet I cannot even remember when the bills were intelligently debated, considered, and passed before that deadline.
Every year, they somehow seem to be unable to pass this legislation, and instead just toss it all into a big omnibus bill , load it with pork, ,pass it in the wee hours of the morning, and head off for yet another vacation.
Can you imagine yourself at work, with definite tasks to be done, and then waiting until the last moment, and just throwing any ole thing together and presenting it to your boss? How long would you have your job?
I understand that there are twelve or thirteen appropriations that are done every year, so it's no surprise. There are 12 months, so why not just do one every 3 weeks or so, and ONLY after they are all done and approved, could they go on to "other" things..
Like .."no dessert until after you finish your dinner "

2. I don't know that it happened nearly as regularly... |
|
but I believe that on a few occasions it did happen under Democratic leadership.
