I'm glad he's doing his presentation on Oprah because he's getting out to a lot of people who may have not seen his movie

doing his slide show presentation and answering a few questions from Oprah. We're only halfway through. Pushing the DVD a bit; showing excerpts. I am recording it; will see if I can get it posted later,or find it on bittorrent.

5. He's essentially doing a condensed version of his slide show... |
|
Oprah seems quite astounded by what Gore has to say...but really any thinking person would react that way

7. Good! This is why Thom Hartmann has neo-con freaks on everyday - |
|
we all need to learn how to eviscerate their arguments.
Go Al!

9. Basically he said that this guy was funded by the same people who... |
|
are the main polluters of the environment...so much for sound science

10. Thanks for heads up: Update |
|
I just tuned in after seeing this thread. Just caught a segment of Pres. Gore going through a store and explaining different inexpensive items people can buy that will reduce their household's co2 emissions. These suggestions will likely save $ too.
Show is back on now. Gore is really fabulous here!

11. So it was a commercial |
|
for Lowe's and DuPont?
So these products are more efficient, at what, exactly? Consuming?
It's not change what we're doing, it's just get more efficient at what we're doing. Since it'll save you money, we'll end up using more of whatever it is that we're using.
Throw in how we all want everyone, including the billions of Chinese and Indian people(plus the continent of Africa, South America, etc), to have what we have, as they have every right to it that we do...whatever. We will do whatever we have to do so that we can continue production and consumption. Period.
Oh well. We think we can consume for free. Just buy Green. We can keep this up for absolutely no cost. Nothing. Not a thing. We can have our cake, eat it, throw it back up, package it, and sell it for 5 times the profit.

12. Gore actually talked about the lightbulbs... |
|
and how if everyone used them it would be the equivalent of taking a million cars (and their emissions) off the road for a year. The items that were recommended have more uses than just the regular function and us spending money.

15. Then we all have to start going to work at sunrise and bed down at sunset, |
|
like they used to do in the ol' days.
(But then we could use those nifty fluorescent light bulbs and reduce our energy use substantially. Just in case some readers didn't get that my post about the candles was sarcasm.)
