I met a fellow today that reminded me why I am a democrat.. |

You see I had a load of dirt delivered today for my yard. I was outside when he arrived and I had him back up to my gate to dump the load. I'm still not sure which had more road miles, the truck or the fellow driving it - both were in a pretty aged and haggard condition. Anyway, as I walked around to the front of his dump truck I saw a new, big, red, bow attached to his front grill.
It reminded me once again, there are lot of really hard working folk out there just barely able to get by. Yet, they manage to show their spirit and hope when you least expect it. Considering in these times they have absolutely no reason to do so.
Sometimes its the simplest of things that remind me, as a democrat, who I'm fighting for... It was a sight, I only wish I had grabbed my camera on the way out of the house.
Thanks for listening...

1. So true. There are so many things we can do from a positive stand point. |
|
That is why I like being a Democrat. Instead of tearing shit up we can be seen as the force that builds and rebuilds.

Respectfully, I'd like to point out that just because someone is old and drives an old truck doesn't mean he has no reason to show spirit and hope.

This guy had a look in his eyes and the whole scene told a story... There was "worry" mixed with "pride", there was "anger" mixed with "content"...
Being an engineer, my verbal skills when it comes to story telling are rather limited. It was not about him or his trucks age or condition... It was about who he was and what he was doing.
Hope that helps better communicate what I was trying to say...
Peace.

7. It probably says more about the eyes of compassion with which you see your world ... |

... than any hardship others may suffer. Who knows? Maybe he has a loving wife and some healthy, loving children that bring him more joy in 5 minutes than many see in a year. Maybe his fatigue is due to a Labor of Love. While I'll be the first to work for economic equity, the real wealth of a nation is held in its hearts, not its pocketbooks. (As such, my America has never seemed so impoverished to me.)
