2. People really need to read the full article, especially the last 2... |
|
..paragraphs. Otherwise, this article sounds like some crazy gestapo-fundy nonsense. This kid's got alot of problems far beyond opening Christmas presents early, it's just the straw that broke the camel's back.

that a 12yo boy has a 63yo GREAT-GRANDMOTHER?
If the mother had him at 15, then she would be 27 now (from the article). If the grandparents had his mother at 18, they would be 45 now, and if the great-grandmother had her child at 18, she would be 63 now. I know it's not that uncommon to have children at 17, but in order for the math to work out, that seems very young for generation after generation to be having children, and that's assuming all of these children were the first-born.
Maybe it's just me, though. When I was born, my great grandparents were in their late 70's, and when my daughter was born, I was already 31.
On edit: I see from the article that the mother is only 15 years older than the boy.

8. It said the mother was 15 when he was born |
|
which is probably part of the problem. That's really young to take on that kind of responsibility. The boy sounds pretty troubled, from the info at the end of the article.
Still, arresting him for that isn't the answer. I don't know what is. Counseling?

9. I did see that after... |

It just seemed to me that the generations are pretty close together. I think perhaps counseling would be a good start for him.

"The mother told police officers that she would have the boy placed with the state Department of Juvenile Justice in Columbia at his court appearance."

14. I realize that it's not that uncommon... |
|
I was just wondering if it's common for generation after generation to have children so young.

15. I knew one family like this |
|
Generation after generation of unwed teen mothers. Freaked me out when I first met the grandmother. She was so young looking and became a great grandmother before fifty. As a teen we hung out with the grandkids, all girls 16, 14, and 13, the youngest got pregnant right after her birthday. This was 35 years ago.

6. I don't understand why the tree is up so early! |
|
And why the presents are under it already... seriously, folks... wait to put the tree up! The presents go under the tree on xmas eve (placed by Santa). I'm over 50 and my folks STILL do that. Just sayin'
No, seriously. If this is a live tree, it can very rapidly become a fire hazard. If it's fake - well, that's just tacky. again, just sayin'
