On November 27th, our irrepressible Matcom of the DU wrote the following in his OP which I am posting below with the link.

In light of the deplorable news that Texan Democratic Congressman (who replaces Jane Harman as Chair of the Intelligence Committee next year) is calling for MORE troops into Iraq, I repost Matcom's brilliant and, yes, clear-to-understand post.

It's that plain and simple and even Kissinger (e-gads) agrees.

We couldn't have angered 1/3 of the world's population with greater efficiency or idiocy.

Bad intelligence=sheer stupidity.

Sending ill equipped troops to help folks with no knowledge of their history or culture or language, and no restrictions on their behaviors has created a situation wherein we can never have any credibility never mind pretend to EVER be an honest broker of peace or inspiration for democracy.

Let the wise women work it out over time I reckon. They know and love their country well.
