The Final Cut ? To Play the King? |
|
or House of Cards? Anyone seen this BBC mini-series with Ian Richardson?
Fantastic portrayal of a murderous, corrupt, politician ascending to the rank of Prime Minister in the UK. Scary in the parallels to political corruption so rampant here in the states.

A couple of other British political thrillers:
A Very British Coup--What happens when a real Socialist becomes prime minister and offends the Establishment
State of Play--The mistress of a member of Parliament is murdered, and there are connections to foreign oil scandals...
Defence of the Realm--A newspaper reporter is stymied by the Official Secrets Act
Then there's the political satire of Yes, Minister and Yes, Prime Minister.

Time has almost rolled around to watch again. Incidentally, they accurately follow the books by Michael Dobbs, who was at one time Chief of Staff and Deputy Chairman of the Conservative Party in Britain. He knows the dirt from the inside. His Goodfellowe M.P. books are almost as good - stories of ethics winning over greed and power.

My niece, who can watch any horror movie, cannot watch this series because he creeps her out so much. (she is 16)
