1. Those tears were due to his remorse about not letting Jeb have the office first
Jeb was supposed to be the bu$h running for office in 2000 but the chimp insisted that he was the elder son and should go first.
Daddy is now crying because he knows his favorite son has little or no chance to be Prez

Just speculation!

3. Yup...
can't believe that someone in the bush crime family didn't take Fredo out on the lake. Jeb was supposed to be the candidate not W. And now the old man realizes that * has so screwed up everything, that no Bush will run for President again in the next 100 years.

I really want that old SNL skit where pappy takes * "hunting". From the 2000 race.

7. LOL! Just read this to my husband and we laughed for 5 minutes
Jeb Bush as Michael Corleone and Dubya as Fredo the f****-up.

12. After some diligent googling...
http://thetravisty.com/Saturday_Night_Live/wmv/George_Bush_Hunting_With_George_W.htm

It's still pretty good. I'm surprised that someone in one of the cable shows hasn't made reference to it, given what's going on with 41 kinda pushing 43 aside and handing the reins to 41's cronies.

23. I had tried to find this before... but there were so many SNL
skits from that period. You just have to be persistent and keep changing the search terms.

Great skit, though in my memory it ended with Dana Carvey's pappy bush telling W to "go check on the kill" and then heaving the big sigh and bringing his rifle up... I don't remember the last bit of dialog where pappy decides against it.

5. I think you are close. My theory is this:
Jeb WAS supposed to get the gig, not Monkey. Jeb was the smart one, the 'anointed' one. After all, he was articulate, fluent in Spanish, had the surface-perfect, adorable "Hispanic Demographic" family (this was before the pill popping, crack smoking daughter, the wild lawn-tearing-up eldest son, and the screwing-girlfriend-in-Walmart-parking-lot/spitting-on-cop youngest son shenanigans came to light) and no one knew about his skirt chasing ways back then either--he was the good Catholic convert. Only Jeb LOST his election, and the Monkey didn't. Thus, Monkey was ahead of the game, and even though he knew they preferred Jeb to be the candidate, Jeb wasn't positioned to run, and the Monkey was, so he stepped up to the job--he could have let it pass him by, and no one would have cared one way or the other, but he wanted to do it, just so he could go mano a mano with Pops and surge ahead of his little brother--his smarter, nicer, favored little brother--the one who is TALLER than he is.

I've no doubt that Poppy was thinking "Shit, the family name wouldn't be such a dreadful disgrace if only my shitty eldest son had ended up as the Commissioner of Baseball, the job he actually wanted...and we'd spent more energy stealing JEB's first run for governor!!"

If Jeb had won his governor's post that first time out, it wouldn't have been Monkey. You have to wonder if we'd even be in Iraq? Would Gore have won the Presidency if he'd gone against Jeb? You have to figure that FL wouldn't have even been a battleground--Jeb would have taken the state as a sitting governor. But then Gore wouldn't have wasted time on the state, and may have worked harder in, say, TN or another battleground. Would the tricks have been as dirty?

What might have been....

25. Yep, she spends a lot of time in Mexico lately, too--she flies in for public appearances
and then goes back home to her family. Who can blame her, really? I guess that marriage is, if not on the rocks, settled into a brutal slog of separate tracks and occasional accomodations.

That customs business was not terribly helpful to Jeb, though! Passive-aggressive behavior on her part, perhaps?

9. Jeb lost his first bid for Governor and Dimson won in Texas
So, the Guv had first shot. Plus, Genius KKKarl Rove had to prove he could make an inanimate object President.

2. that was a release more than a cry, even though a good cry is a release
the big little man is worried that his, not jr's, legacy will be stained with the truth of his, sr's, many misdeeds. He's been caught and he knows it's just a matter of time before we all know it. the cats out of the bag so to say

13. Someone posted something psychological
That guys like Poppy force themselves to live in some sort of imaginary world throughout their lives where they think they're respected by most people, and everyone else is a kind of enemy (we can see that in DimSon), but as they get older these barricades in their minds come crashing down, and reality sinks in that the truth is that they're human pieces of shit who have done more harm than good.

I wish I could find the post. I'm not a psych person and can't explain it as eloquently as the other poster did.

on a similar thread, a couple of folks figured the tears were for the end of his 'dynasty'. The shrink that wrote a book about *, was on Randi Rhodes a while ago and said much the same thing but also blamed Babs, the mother/devil. Claimed she's the evil one and that * is quite like her. Cruel, sarcastic.

24. I'm sure the "Rev." Moon is comforting him right now.
I'm sick of his maudlin, cryin'-in-his-beer jags over how his "boys" are regarded, as though somehow it's 50 years ago and Georgie was just practicing to be a cheerleader and Jebbie was oh-so-cute in a Spanky kind of way.
