In our opinion, that course is no longer viable."

CNN: Iraq Study Group: Change Iraq strategy now

President Bush receives the Iraq Study Group's report Wednesday, flanked by former Democratic Rep. Lee Hamilton, left, and former Secretary of State James Baker.

1. "we recommend the same 'train Iraqi troops' bullshit with better PR"...
"stay-the-course" is failing badly with the focus groups...

3. Spot on.
The only thing that will change is words. This is pure political bullshit to save Bush's ass (throw Republicans in there too).

4. Hmm, it would seem the red tie is now a symbol of stubborn impotence
and the REAL power color is green.

Reminds me of the green shoes one of the twins wore in that family pic from election night 04.

Green light for what this time?

5. The ISG is at least sounding intelligent. This is in that respect, quite
refreshing.

A distinct lack of jingo-ism and catch phrases like "stay the course", "honor their sacrifice" and "we will be victorious".

Very statesmanlike, reserved, diplomatic, and INTELLIGENT. A complete 180 from the squatters way of doing things.

Having said all that, I am not sure what their recommendations ultimately will imply, but the overall assessment seems to at least indicate that Iraq is an unmitigated disaster, with little hope of improvement in the short term.
