Sorry To Say, But I Don't Trust Anyone On This ISG "Blue Ribbon Panel"
Edited on Wed Dec-06-06 12:12 PM by stopbush
Jim Baker? A cover-up specialist for the BFEE and a criminal in his own right.

Vernon Jordan? Why is he even sitting there unless it's to address political cover issues?

Leon Panetta? "One last chance." WTF??? Chance for what?

Lee Hamilton? Admits that he blew it as Co-Chair of the Blue Ribbon 9/11 Panel joke, yet here he is again, representing the
Dem position as being "we're not going to look into how we got here." Bushco enacted almost none of the recommendations
from Hamilton's 9/11 Panel, yet we're to imagine that it will be different this time. Right.

Edwin Meese? One of the stupidest people to ever serve in government and a TOTAL apologist for all things Reagan & Bush.

Sandra Day O'Connor? Oh yeah, the SC Justice who was visibly upset when it looked like Gore had won in 2000 but made sure
that the votes weren't counted so she could help to illegaly install Dim Son.

No need to go on with the other members, but this is a panel of bushco fixers and D enablers. Yeah, the report is critical of bush's policy
(how could it not be?), but the recommendations are written to be paid lip service and ignored. More Iraqis and US service people will die while
the "game" in DC will be CYA and look for that lobbyist job. The media is already painting the report as "damning of the war," but we all know that
the real and ONLY solution would be to call for bush to IMMEDIATELY step down as president and to hand the reigns to the incoming Ds, as in
President Pelosi. Yes, that will never, ever happen in this country, but the fact remains that such a move would be more realistic and solution-oriented
than the crap they handed us today.

These panels are empowered to keep Americans in the dark, not to shed light on anything. They are meant as cover for the mistakes of the American government
(no matter which party occupies the WH), not as realistic solutions for glaring problems.

And the media and most of the public dutifully laps it up while the world burns.

On edit: I am writing this based on what the talking heads are reporting. I haven't had time to read through this document, so I imagine my opinion could change. But even if the
report reads like the DNC wrote it it's still up to bush to do something about it.

1. I don't either!
Let's let the new congress seat a new panel...and interview some witnesses under oath in public.

After all, W said a long time ago "It will be left to other presidents to end this war"

5. They are all Iran-Contra-ites and Carlyle Group-ers.
I thought that it was the job of Congress to oversee, but I guess you can form a bipartism group (meaning cronies from both sides) to give you advice and "oversite".

6. it's bullshit, Bush will slow walk all of it till he's out of office
then dump the whole mess on the next President and whine that we had to invade and things were never that bad when I was President. Thieves, they stole the fucking election in 2000, played dirty to win again in 2004 and finally got stopped in 2006. We must win over the rest of the country with a positive progressive vision and cripple the CON-servative movement permanently.

8. course not, but, now that they've spoken, we can use their criticisms
in our own approach.

Don't forget that we have to manage the political debate as well as we manage our opposition.

9. Read the executive summary
it's posted in latest breaking. I don't trust this group either, but the summary works well for our side. The strongest meme coming out of it is simply that bush failed and Iraq is mess getting messier.

10. The lastest move in the RW intramural fight.
Neocons are down, Carlyle Group is up.

These are the people who were with Poppy and his original "new world order", slapping down the people who they once called the crazies in the basement in the 80s.

I don't see it as something to get excited about.

11. It's not a good idea to let Bush hold the ground to characterize it, or dismiss it either
It's just smart politics to take all of the assessments favorable to our opposition to the occupation and hammer the White House with them.

17. True, but we must recognise that those issuing this report
are not exactly our friends, either. They have their own agenda.

To make an over-the-top comparison, it's the Nazis vs the SA. Neither side was good for Germany.

Lee Hamilton actually said that?

Sweet mother of Crom, that's what he does EVERY F***ing TIME he's on some panel or commission (with him it's more like -- o-mission).

Geez, put that quote on his tombstone.

From both parties. if they voted for war, they'll have to say it. "let's just look forward"

apparently its construction is right on schedule, unhampered by the chaos:

Construction cranes loom above the site of the new U.S. Embassy being built in Baghdad. The embassy will sit on 104 acres, six times larger than the United Nations compound in New York and two-thirds the acreage of Washington’s National Mall.
