Military Deploys Wave Beam Weapon, Cute "Goodbye Effect" Touted... |
|
Edited on Wed Dec-06-06 03:45 PM by Blackhatjack
So the military says this weapon has undergone 'lengthy tests' and 'been certified safe'. Imagine how this weapon will be used in this country? It will chill public protests, or any other kind of conduct that is legal under the constitution but detested by government leaders.
We are headed into an area fraught with 'government control' of public exercise of constitutional rights. Scary.
THere is a link to this story on the rawstory site, and below.
www.wirednews.com
"According to documents obtained for Wired News under federal sunshine laws, the Air Force's Active Denial System, or ADS, has been certified safe after lengthy tests by military scientists in the lab and in war games.
The ADS shoots a beam of millimeters waves, which are longer in wavelength than x-rays but shorter than microwaves -- 94 GHz (= 3 mm wavelength) compared to 2.45 GHz (= 12 cm wavelength) in a standard microwave oven. The longer waves are thought to limit the effects of the radiation. If used properly, ADS will produce no lasting adverse affects, the military argues.
Documents acquired for Wired News using the Freedom of Information Act claim that most of the radiation (83 percent) is instantly absorbed by the top layer of the skin, heating it rapidly.
The beam produces what experimenters call the "Goodbye effect," or "prompt and highly motivated escape behavior." In human tests, most subjects reached their pain threshold within 3 seconds, and none of the subjects could endure more than 5 seconds.

1. Coming soon to a protest near you... |

It is a fact that every weapon ever developed HAS BEEN USED, from the rock to the nuke. You KNOW someone will use this domestically. Probably in secret.

3. Full Article Says They Wanted To Deploy It In Iraq Before Fully Tested... |

... they have no explanation of how a disabled, trapped, or abused person could avoid permanent damage. The eyes are particularly vulnerable. The military explanation is that people naturally turn away and/or blink, so there is nothing to worry about.
This is one dangerous weapon system to use in a civilian population, but you know they are gonna do it.
I bet Mexican Calderon officials would buy all they could get right now!

Right. Who here believes that will be the standard -- proper use? And what happens when, as you know it will, the beam is turned on one section of a crowd and not the folks behind them? You get a group acting promptly on "highly motivated escape behavior" (there should be a special circle of Hell for the assholes who come up with these locutions) trying to get away, and rank upon rank of others behind them who don't know what all the fuss is about. People will be trampling each other, and not in a good way. It will be like the Who concert in Cincinnati over and over again.
Here's the gratuitous standard for using this weapon on people: Whoever orders or employs its use must be subject to the same burst of radiation, as contemporaneously as possible, up to and including a dual beam weapon that irradiates shooter and target alike. Anyone who orders or uses this thing otherwise is subject to immediate arrest and trial for a crime against humanity.

George Orwell described it all. If we didn't bullshit each other, we would say "run like hell." Instead we get "goodbye effect." I wonder how long it will take for this to be abused.

5. This will cause potent and irreversible pain and damage... |
|
If I am thinking right, this would be akin as to lighting someone on fire. This would leave scars that would be forever painful and it would be irreversible. The victim will have to deal with this trauma for the rest of their lives.
What a wonderful military weapon we have :sarcasm:

that's like calling death the "goodnight effect". This from the administration of "healthy forests"- clearcut logging, "clean air"- more pollution, and "no child left behind"- all kids left behind.
They have taken a page from Orwell's 1984 with the Ministry of Peace- war department, Ministry of Truth- censorship division, Ministry of Love.......

Now they can torture thousands of people at once, and possibly kill those who can't move away.
