Poll question: Should They Have the Child Out-of-Wedlock, or Get Married First?

What would Jesus want them to do?

Mary Cheney, left, daughter of Vice President Dick Cheney, sits with her partner, Heather Poe,
in Madison Square Garden during the Republican National Convention in New York in this Wednesday,
Sept. 1, 2004 file photo. Mary Cheney is pregnant, according to a published report. Cheney, 37,
and her partner of 15 years, Heather Poe, 45, are 'ecstatic' about the baby, due in late spring,
The Washington Post reported in Wednesday's editions, quoting an unnamed source close to the couple.

6. Public figures are public in all things.
That's why they get paid big bucks.

And especially when they take a stand, given that they are seen as role models, observing any hypocrisy only makes an evening more interesting than NBC's "Must See TV".

15. Exactly. If Ms Cheney sat out the gay rights debates, I'd say leave her be. But she's anti-equality
She's taken stands withthe political side of those who work to suppress the civil rights of gays. If she'd stayed quiet (like Alan Keyes's daughter) I'd say leave her alone. But, like most progeny of Republican bigwigs, she couldn't restrain herself from cashing in on her name and standing up for one conservative cause after another. Picking on her child-to-be would be horrendous and unacceptable. May Cheney is fair game.

3. Have baby - then be forced to give it up for adoption. They are
clearly going to be an evil corrupting abomination of a family and the child should have a chance for life with a normal, white, upper class, rich, family of privilege where they will not be required to join the military or be subjected to the taunts and jeers of other children about having two mommies.

7. Piffle. They'd probably divorce within 5 years.
Plenty of heteros can't make it that long in marriage.

8. This SHOULD be a non-story
but with the way the republicans bash gays, gay marrige and "BLOW JOBS". You'd think this would cause an all out riot.

16. I predict most big name gay-bashing Republicans will leave this alone.
Only a few "fringe nuts" (in this case the term means "ideologically consistant") will dare mention this.

10. WHATEVER THE FUCK THEY WANT!
They should do WHATEVER THE FUCK THEY want to do!!!

I'm sure that these two strong women are quite capable of raising a child whether they get married or not.

These two women deserve our support -- NO MATTER HOW THEY DECIDE to raise their child!

Not in this galaxy ...

The Cheneys -- all of them -- have shown themselves time and time again to be among the most hypocritical, condescending bastards on the face of the earth. This is just the latest example.

She wanted to boast about the new grandkid, but she didn't want her name attached to the story lest anyone think she approves.

By the way I'm not an idiot. I understood the OP. I'm a friend of the GBLT community...of more than 20 years.

They could still get married by moving to Boston.

Are they hypocrites for supporting Bush and his gay bashing buddies, sure. But this is their life to do with as they see fit. But I do feel a bit sorry for Mary, she is looking more and more like her Dad every day:scared:

38. They refer to themselves as married.
They probably already had a private ceremony ages ago.

You know, I am super tempted to make some booties and send them to her. I mean, her dad's base isn't going to knit for the baby, as horrified as they are. The gay knitters aren't, since they're mad as hell at her. Maybe I will, some pretty rainbow ones. It's not the baby's fault, and it might make the moms pause and think for a second.
