Is Bush talking to "conservative" Dems because he's trying
to recruit people to the dark side so he can continue his evil plans?

"President Bush is calling for a meeting with "centrist" and right-leaning Democrats in order to feel out common ground, according to an article to appear in the Washington, D.C. newspaper The Hill.

Bush "has invited leaders of the conservative Blue Dog and New Democrat coalitions to the White House Friday to discuss areas of 'mutual cooperation,'" a Congressional aide said, according to writer Josephine Hearn."

I can't see Bush budging an inch from his "stay-the-course" plan, so he must be desperately trying to recruit Dems over to the cause. Maybe he's using blackmail - all that spying on the opposition and all that.

How much fertile ground would he find in the new Congress, I wonder?

1. That's what he's trying to do
But it won't work, most of the people he met with want a new direction and know he failed in Iraq.

2. No, he's trying to look reasonable so they can shout "persecution"
when the Congress starts doing oversight in January.

3. He's trying the "divide and conquer" thing...
...which is unlikely to work, because it takes a really, REALLY stupid rat to jump ONTO a sinking ship.

However, there are some pretty stupid ones in the Dem ranks. It will be a useful way of seeing who can be tossed under the bus when needed.

judiciously,
Bright

4. Remember the bush "mandate".
Well bush had 2% over Kerry in the vote. And he ranted and raved that he had a mandate. Then he destroyed the country. Now according to a post on DU the democrats won 35 seats and lost none.

Don't you think that is more of a mandate, especially since they did not have the bush machine's flipping the vote for them.
