Central Fla. Officer Resigns After Transvestite's Sex Accusation
Man Says Lieutenant Fondled Him

POSTED: 4:44 pm EST December 6, 2006

MOUNT DORA, Fla. -- A Mount Dora police officer resigned Wednesday after allegations of sexual assault.

Lt. Roger Chilton was on paid leave since last week after a transvestite claimed that he was assaulted when Chilton offered him a ride to a convenience store.

James Brunson, 44, told police that Chilton made him take his clothes off and then fondled him.

Brunson made the allegations on the same day he was booked into the Orange County Jail on a charge of domestic violence, Local 6 News reported.

I am wondering why someone being a transvestite is important to this story? And would it even be a story if that was not part of it?

I suppose from a statistical POV (point of view) one could say this is 'odd' news, and hence worth mentioning, but I think it detracts from the deeper issue of abuse of power and plain old abuse. THAT is the real story here.

1. I think James Brunson MIGHT have "Pro-Family" relatives

I wonder if Lynette and/or Ledonna are any relation to James Brunson?

According to Oliver, the Mount Dora Police Department received a call the night of Nov. 22 about a suspicious-looking woman walking on U.S. 441. Police sent a female officer to the scene, and the person asked for a ride to a Circle K convenience store just across the county line, Oliver said.

Chilton, who was off-duty at the time but driving a police vehicle, followed the officer to the store as backup, according to Oliver. When it was clear there was no problem, the female officer left and Chilton stayed to use the restroom in the store and grab a snack, Oliver said.

"They were both fooled -- they thought this person was actually a woman," Oliver said.

When Chilton walked out of the store, the transvestite "pleaded" for a ride to another convenience store about 10 minutes away along U.S. 441 in Orange County, according to the attorney. Chilton then drove the person to the other store, Oliver said.

Oliver questioned why the victim didn't call police immediately.
